Okay, I figured I'd try this out. I downloaded a MAME emulator, Gradius lll and Sexy Parodius(both in Japanese). There seems to be two modes, one where you keep certain power ups even after dying, and one where you lose everything each time. On the latter, I've barely dented the game. On the former, I've made it to the boss of stage 1 many times, but have yet to beat it. You guys are right about how hard this game is! Any tips for the first boss? I'll search this thread for them, but I'm asking in case they're not in here.
Current Consoles: SNES, GBC, Game Cube, Nintendo DSL, Wii, N64, PS2
Past Consoles: PS1, X-BOX, GBA

FAV Franchises/Games: Sonic The Hedgehog, Lock's Quest, Legend of Zelda, Megaman Battle Network, Mysims, Plok(SNES), Kirby, Ristar, Sly Cooper, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Smash Bros, Okami, Tekken, Super Mario, Wario Land, Golden Sun, Streets of Rage and Elite Beat Agents.

first boss is easy. Way easier than the level leading up to him. Just shoot directly into his mouth rapidly. Any time he opens his mouth, yr doing damage. Obviously you need to dodge the shit he fires at you and kill any spiders that come at you. But just go right back to SHOOTING THE CORE!

One other thing, dose the arcade version have an automatic or semi-automatic shooting mode? I've seen it talked about, but I just rapidly press the fire button whenever I want to shoot things.

Also, I have to go find out how to get Sexy Parodius to work :?

Sexy Parodius is awesome, but you know it's not the one we picked for TR, right?

Yeah, you guys are playing "Gokujou Parodius", right? I was going to play that one too, but the embedded video for Sexy looked really awesome, just had to download that one. The graphics were much more compelling. I'll be downloading Gokujou soon though

Yeah, Sexy is my favourite of the series... BUT IT IS NOT THE ONE WE ARE PLAYING. YOU ARE NOT BANISHED FROM TR! :P

Gradius III: FUCK YOU

I am trying to do a run on the easiest difficulty setting and am still getting my ass handed to me once I get past level 4 or so. These goddamn bosses are going to drive me insane. FUCK THIS GAME.

I'll be back for a few more runs later tonight :D

yeah I've resorted to only playing Gradius III for like a half hour per week because I'll just get too mad. There's a line between a fun challenge and fuck-you difficult.

Haha. I am determined to finish it by hook or crook before I pick up Parodius. I am treating Parodius like a reward for a job well done.
