Why do you think this looks like a DL title?
Because it looks like nothing more than an average, Wii-grade rail shooter (Sin & Punishment, Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead) but with HD graphics? Also, because Rez is currently on XBLA and this looks to be the spiritual successor to that?? But more importantly, the game is extremely short at only 5 levels.

At $15 this would have been a great buy on XBLA. But $50 seems like overkill for this "all flash and little substance" shooter. Once you get past the pretty graphics you're left with just a very basic idea and a shell of a game.

If it's anything like Rez then there's plenty of content to justify the price. Rez was a full priced retail title long before xbla existed of course. Then again I'm one of those willing to pay $100+ for games that are only 20 minuted long.

Ohh snap! Time to update the rail-shooters list.

I gotta check this game out sometime.

That's right, and you can't sell a ten year old game at full price.
As for the length of the game, the time it takes to reach the end of a game has no bearing on the quality or replay value of the game. That'd be like saying that because Cleopatra was 5 hours long, then all these other 1.5-2 hour movies can't be as good (well maybe not the best example because Cleopatra's a good movie).

There's no shortage of new games that are fairly long but either just aren't good or have very little replay value. Games like this are short but have extremely high replay value. I totally understand people not liking rail shooters, but judging anything only by length just doesn't work.

How would you know that - the game just came out 2 days ago!?

Because this style of game lends itself to that. Just beating it is one goal, but once you get into things like scoring you can spend ages with it. Heck, even the simplest examples of the genre, like Star Fox, had a lot of replayability just trying to meet the medal requirements.

Did you spend ages playing Rez? Because I didn't. I played it a couple times and was done with it.
