Re: DUST
If you don't like controllers then stick with PC shooters. I don't see why this is always an issue. Sure, a controller doesn't have the same speed and accuracy, but it's not like console shooters are being designed to require it. Do you really want to break the game that badly? I can understand if it's a comfort level thing, but anyone who can use a controller for other games should be able to adjust
I think Microsoft's reasoning is interesting though, as it clearly shows their obsession with multi-player. If shooters dropped the multi-player, than this wouldn't be an issue. Until single player storytelling becomes a focus in the genre, there will never be mouse and keyboard support on the 360

The problem with doing something like this is that Dust is PS3 exclusive, but I dislike playing with a controller because I'm used to the keyboard and mouse combo.Gamerforlife wrote:If you don't like controllers then stick with PC shooters. Re: DUST
If all games let me fully remap my controls, then this wouldnt be a problem. But fact of the matter is that 90% of FPS's released nowadays do not have the southpaw or legacy control schemes and even less allow left trigger shooting.Gamerforlife wrote:If you don't like controllers then stick with PC shooters. Oh, and what if someone likes playing first person shooters with a keyboard and mouse, but doesn't want to pay the initially high cost of putting together a rig to play them on? Then there are the costs of upgrading said rig at least once a year... all of this and you still have to buy the game. The PS3 and 360 have USB ports on them, devs should just let us play with kb&m if we want to.
It is a tired argument. The comfy couch and "just get a PC" arguments are getting old.

Re: DUST
The upgrading every year argument is getting old to. I have a q6600, 4 gigs of ram, 9600 gt rig that I built for $500 4ish years ago (when Bush gave me money). The only update I did was to swap it from XP to 7 and add harddrives. Other than that it is the same it was when I built it. I recently played through Portal 2 on moderate to high settings. Witcher 2 runs, but to really get the most out of that game I will have to upgrade.wip3outguy7 wrote:Oh, and what if someone likes playing first person shooters with a keyboard and mouse, but doesn't want to pay the initially high cost of putting together a rig to play them on? If you want to stay on the top of the top of the graphics game, yes you have to upgrade each year, but most gamers are money conscious enough that they dont do that. In the mid 90s, yes you had to upgrade alot faster. Now we have plateaued.

Re: DUST
That's pretty cool. I wonder what kind of a delay (if any) there is.
Even then, it's kind of sad that you have to go to those extremes to get a mouse and keyboard working for a FPS game on PS3 when it could be as simple as plugging them into the console itself (duh, der's two usb ports right ther' on the front of teh console).

From what I can tell and read, there is little if no delay at all. I agree with you, but this is damn cool and will work for any game you throw at it. Oh well.

Im actually thinking about taking this another step and using a second bluetooth connection and having it go to a ps3 controller so I can remap my controls in games that wont let me normally. That or arcade sticks. However this is all dependent on no lag.wip3outguy7 wrote:That's pretty cool. I wonder what kind of a delay (if any) there is.

Re: DUST
LOL. We think alike. Watching it in action, this was the first thing that came to my mind. Full button mapping in games like Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5 (WTF Capcom?) would be great. Remapping the left Analog stick to the Dpad for games like Moon Diver would really open up arcade stick possibilities.fastbilly1 wrote:Im actually thinking about taking this another step and using a second bluetooth connection and having it go to a ps3 controller so I can remap my controls in games that wont let me normally.
