Awesome man! That cake really takes the cake(no pun intended)! What a work of art! I wouldn't be able to eat it just because of how awesome that came out but I'll bet it tasted great though!

It's funny because I was in Trade N Play yesterday and noticed that they do that for people for their birthdays. Cool stuff! Too bad they f'd up my copy of Star Wars Force Unleashed for Xbox 360 by trying to dsic repair it for me but that's another story.

What's important is everyone had fun and it's something that you love so to hell with anyone who judges you for it! God I feel old though!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

That is awesome that your Play n Trade does that - the one nearest me doesnt do anything fun. Heck they dont even do tournaments, just midnight releases.

Personally, the only birthday celebration I do is because of my grandmother. I do not celebrate it other than that. This year my girlfriend says that changes. I told her, that I dont want a party; just her alone, a bottle of wine, and some movies. She suggested playing and adventure game instead of movies, Kings Quest actually - and she is not a gamer.

That's a shame, fast.. PnT can be such an awesome franchise (since they have Retro titles, unlike other big name retailers,) but it's all up to whomever owns the actual store.. While my store does the tourneys and parties, the owner doesn't advertise at all, and only holds tourneys for popular games, (1 Street Fighter or MvC3 tourney a year, and like 3 Smash Bros. and 7 CoD and Madden tourneys.) He really only has the store as a side project. It's a shame because my buddy who works there and I want to start arcade nights where people bring in games from home for any system and just spend 3 hours chillin', meeting new people, and trying out games most people would have otherwise missed out on.. (At the end of the last SF4 tourney, I popped in Rival Schools and had 10 people crowd around the Playstation trying to "play that weird and awesome fighting game.")

And I'm the same way with birthdays, dude.. My girl is hardcore about them, but I'm like 'meh..' I never really had any great adult birthday memories, and I guess that might be why I'm more low-key and would rather stay in with a 6-pack and Super Mario World. That's why she threw me the surprise party last year w/ my friends.. She's a doll! And if she suggested King's Quest instead like your girl did, I'd probably marry her tomorrow!

I've noticed this thread gets resurrected pretty often for being a 9 month old thread and it got me curious.. There's been a lot of new faces on the site since I started this last September..
Spill it! What game-related birthday memories have you got? Hell, they don't need to only be game-related.. Comics, M:tG, Star Trek/Wars, whatever..

I need to suavely get my gf to see this thread. My birthday is in like 2 months :D

Sounds like a blast man! I honestly couldn't think of anything else I'd rather be doing on my birthday then spending time with friends and family playing video games.

Oh, and Happy Birthday (almost around again eh?)!

It'll probably be the end of this year...

We had three Playntrades near me. One was awesome and ran tourneys all the time, the other two never did and rarely did midnight releases. Well only one is still open, and it is one of the ones that never does anything fun and closes at 2000 - which is odd to me.
