I'm pretty sure I've played parts of it before, it's the one with the helpers right? The hamster and whatnot? Oh, and Goo and 0 right? I should have fun if so, and a hard copy of the game is 40$ at the cheapest right now...(Unless you run by it in some yard sale or course.)

Yeah, I own Kirby Super Star Ultlra though, it's one of my favorite games of this gen if you looked through the other thread.

If I ever get a hard copy of Chrono or Dream Land, then I'm definetely playing through them, but I've yet to buy anything on VC, and I don't really see that changing soon.

Just completed Rachel's story in BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2. That's 3 down, 12 to go.

They are part of the story - essentially, Chrono and friends are helping to undo the damage that Lavos very existence has done to the world - with the added benefit of getting the best armor and weapons as you go along. It's more like a non-linear end game, something rare for an SNES era RPG.
Yeah, I am getting that idea the more I play, it is just that it goes against the conventions of the genre which suggest that leveling up and item fetch quests are additional, tacked-on parts of the game.

My question is - if the HP tops out at 999 and I am only at level 42 and have 800HP or so, do I still get better stats with subsequent levels? At what point is grinding offering diminishing returns?
From what I remember yes your core stats still increase a bit and can really beef you up even more beyond HP and whatnot. That's why even through NG+ runs you'll easily see how stronger you get as you continue to level up towards the end even if your HP is already maxed.

Also one of the coolest endings to go for is to take on Lavos solo with Chrono, right at the very beginning of the game at the end of the town fair you can warp to Lavos from that point in a NG+ and fight him right then and there.

2,071,090 and partway through level 7 on my first go at Gunhed (Blazing Lazers). Pretty good shmup! I prefer the Type III laser - any arguments as to one being better?

Type 3 laser is probably the best weapon, although at higher levels all 4 weapons get the job done. Weapon 4 is essentially useless at the lower levels. Weapon 1 is surprisingly useful too, it's probably my 2nd most used.

I think type 3 laser actually gets worse at some levels - the version where it creates a square around your ship before blasting off is much better than most of the later laser arrangements imo.

What secondary power up do you use? I pretty much stick to sheild because the game is a lot harder with the others. It's a shame though, because some of the weapons available with the 'F' firepower icon are cool - exploding shots, walls of lasers, homing beams - they're kinda fun.

Anyhow, I played the game last night and this morning again too - both times the same thing happened as usual - died on the boss rush, got overwhelmed by the crazy amount of enemies with my crappy laser and lack of sheild. The game's fairly easy up to this point actually - I seem to remember reaching the boss rush level on my first ever attempt.

I just got the Wings of Time in Chrono Trigger. I will probably cap the game off this weekend then start on Broken Sword Directors Cut on the DS - I own it on the Wii, PC, and now DS - damn sales and weak temperament.

OK, I just beat Ozzie is Magus's castle. And I'm glad I kept at it because that castle was probably my favorite part of the game up to now. So far I'm 8.5 hrs in.

Wait, where the hell were you earlier? I don't think you aren't even to the point where I was when I got the bad ending...

I told you where I was earlier -- I had just gotten the sword and the Frog had just rejoined my party. I was 7 hrs in at the time.
