Changes to graphics = fine
Changes to content = unwelcome shades of George Lucas
I'm with you on that one. It's funny though in my past experience when the game was new, I remember I beat the Library fairly easily on Legendary... but on Heroic it gave me a lot of trouble. Just a weird experience I haven't forgotten. But yeah, that map is basically just manipulating the checkpoints and sure the level design in it wasn't special, but that was the first time you were alone with the Flood, you had 343 flying around spouting out hilarious and annoying stuff, the music and atmosphere was great... I've never hated the level unlike most.

^Agreed, I remember not liking for a while then later it was one of my favorite levels. The level in Halo 3 where you're inside the giant flood thing is way worse than the Library. They aren't changing the actual layout of the library I don't think. They're just using different graphics and textures for different sections of it so it's not the same corridors over and over again.

I was thinking they might have more arrows painted on the floor so you don't get lost or something of that nature.

Wait, so the complaints about the Library are that it is too hard? I thought people didn't like it because it all looked very similar and was maybe tough to navigate...TBH from a gameplay/challenge standpoint that part of Halo was the most reminiscent of classic FPSs that threw tons of enemies at you. What exactly is the problem?

I just thought it was boring and not fun. It also takes WAAAAY too long. Pain in the ass.

I can get through the level just fine, but it feels like a chore.

My complaint with the library was that I was running down the same corridor over and over again, fighting the exact same group of enemies. Sure, Doom is repetitive, but at least it would vary the scenery in each level a little. It's not that the library was too hard, at least not to me. It was that it was visually dull, especially when compared to the level right before it.

Yeah I just watched this interview on GameSpot. He says the Library is identical to the original but they've added more visual cues, textures, and lighting cues to help you navigate through the level better.

The library was my favorite level in Halo. I loved the waves upon waves of Flood that I could blast with the shotgun and never have to worry about ammo since half the flood were carrying it.
The original halo is my favorite console shooter ever. I absolutely hate every halo since then though, even Reach. I guess I'm just too old and crotchety lol. Pretty soon I'll be yelling get off my lawn.......

Mine was 343 Guilty Spark. I've liked every game in the series less than the previous one, too. I think it's mostly to do with the community of gamers online, though.

I thought Reach was the best one since the original by far, although it still wasn't as mysterious and awesome as the first. What the original game and Reach got right though, is that they did NOT put us in the shoes of the Covenant. That was Halo 2 and 3's absolute biggest flaw in my opinion. All we needed to know was that they were insane aliens out to kill everything, but then they ruined the Elites, brought in some lame apes, the Prophets, and all this other silly junk that made it into a huge convoluted mess. I thought Reach was an improvement because it at least took itself a little more seriously and overall the whole feel of the game felt a bit more like the original to me.

But yeah overall I agree with some of you guys, the first game is miles above the sequels. I had a lot of fun playing Reach online though, but what Halo 3 taught me was to ONLY play online with a group of friends, never play Halo by yourself. Most frustrating and worst community ever by far, but with a group of friends it was always more tolerable and fun.
