Shocked for DS e3 Announcements

Post by casterofdreams »

I was shocked and a little sad for e3 announcements that the Nintendo DS got in terms of games. Two big games are Kirby: Mass Attack and the fifth Professor Layton game. I'm also sad though that some other games that came out in Japan won't be coming over at all I think, mainly the second DS title in the Fire Emblem series and that Pokemon Typing Game. I hope we get some of those Nintendo Japan only games as a final Hooray for the system.

Why are you shocked?

In case you're living under a rock, there's this little thing called the 3DS that has sealed the fate of the regular DS. Anything that comes out for the DS now are just projects that it didn't make any sense to switch platforms so close to the end of their development.

Remember how Nintendo treated the GBA? -- "Yes, we'll keep supporting it, it's our third pillar." Hah! Support for the GBA dried up so quickly it was like it was transmitting a communicable disease or something.

The Nintendo DS came out in 2004 and the last Nintendo game came out in 2006. I figured that they support the thing a little but I was shocked that only two games were announced and nothing else will come to the system.

GBA, from what I remebered, had a Zelda game, a main series Pokemon game, and spin off game. First two were in 2005 and the latter was in 2006. Those are big name games.

I remain hopeful.

The DS was an awesome system, and I'm sure you agree, based on your avatar, but everything must one day die, game systems included. Revel in your favorite system's times, rather than looking back sadly on what once was. When the DS is gone, you can always get a 3DS instead.

Heh, I remember Gunstar Super Heroes being the last GBA game I was interested in.

I can see DS titles coming out for the next 2 years, considering how popular it was compared to to GBA. Some of us can remain hopeful ;)

We should see a North American release of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 for the DS.

Forget Nintendo's releases. It's all good with Atlus.

That Pokemon typing game looks like a great way to learn the names of the Pokemon. I just wish it had all 3657 Pokemon in it.

The only problem for someone used to playing the American versions of Pokemon games is that the Pokemon have different names in Japan. The game is in English though, so it would be very easy to understand and play.

It is selling incredibly well in Japan, so I think it has a good chance of coming out here.

same thing that's going on with PSP. Even if Sony has moved on Atlus, Square Enix and Xseed all seem to find the platform worthy of awesome output.
