Actually, the reason is collectionism. There's no reason aside from that. Downloaded ISOs of Radiant Silvergun play the exact same Radiant Silvergun as an original copy. If your burned CD rots, you burn another one. If your original disc rots, you spend another $150.

I'm cool with collections and all, but it's bullshit to say that it is more reliable to have a physical copy. MAME will still be here when all arcade PCBs stop working.
Actually, the word actually implies fact, whereas I will politely disagree w/your opinion - sounds alter, graphics alter, button layouts can differ, etc. Collectionism is a part of it, absolutely. The other part is patently untrue - in my opinion - though it is a good discussion to have...elsewhere.

Let's get this back on SSFIV meetups...i'm on now if anyone wants to join. 8)

Indeed I agree, I like physical media waaaaay better than digital downloads specially videogames. Yeah SSFIV AE may be 40$ in it's physical version but sooner or later it will go down to 20$ on Amazon.

Emulators are for noobs, there will never be anything better than playing games on their original consoles.

Those people that consider themselves "Gamers" just because they have stacks of burned games and pirate them as soon as they come out are so lame.

1) I don't trade games in - and if I did, try trading SSF4 in and getting SSF4AE back, and spend less than $15 out of the whole affair.

2) I've got a damn good feeling SSF4 is not trading in for $25.

3) I mean, if you want to pay $40 for a 'environmentally-friendly' hollowed-out piece of plastic, and a black-n-white instruction manual with no heart or soul put in to it, then don't let me stop you.

4) Hell, I've got stacks upon stacks of games and cases all over my room because I just don't have shelf space for them.
1) Neither do I trade, I trade w/other gamers - and I can't trade downloads.

2) I paid $19.99 free ship/no tax (amazon) and I could easily get that back out of it right now in trade value, or probably cash on this forum.

3) I actually think the PS3 case is pretty darn solid and well constructed, it's not hollowed out at all like wii is starting to do on some 3rd party titles. My manual for SSFIV and ALL of my other PS3 games are vibrant, in color, and on quality paper - not sure where that comment generates from?

4) You should trade those to me!

Just saying there is not a guarantee with something that isn't tangible and accessible. Theres a reason people pay hundreds of dollars for a copy of JP SAT shooter that they could easily burn to disc, emulate online, or download.

Not trying to argue bro, but I think i'm in the majority, on this forum at least, of folks who would much rather not be reliant on an internet connection, a quality burn, or some other means to make their games play the way they were meant to be played. Thats it - to each his own.
1.) Actually, yes, you CAN trade downloads. I've done it more than a few times. You log in on another persons console, download the game, then log back off. They can access the game that you downloaded to their system as much as they want (in most cases) - even better, so can you! So it's BETTER than letting them borrow a physical copy! Only problem is that this can only be done 5 times.

2.) Did you do that when the game out, or long after it came out? I'd imagine the latter. If you are somehow assuming that SSF4AE won't be cut in half at some point the same way that both SSF2HD and MvC2 were, then I'd just tell you to assume again. I've no doubt that if you wait for a bit, SSF4AE will (temporarily) drop to $7.50 - far sooner than it'll drop to $20 on Amazon. (Unless the game just bombs completely.)

3.) I've got many manuals that are thin and B&W. Hell, even my Valkyria Chronicles manual is black and white. It's just the trend with games these days.

4.) Why on God's green earth would I get rid of all the games I've spend ages collecting? Just because I have no place for them on my shelves doesn't mean I don't want them.

All in all, if I buy a retail copy of SSF4AE, it's going to be on the PC. And even then, I'll likely get it on Steam instead. If SSF4AE was a more complete package, maybe I'd care to own one for collectabilities sake - but they couldn't even add in trials for the four new characters. Pretty much every character has received a metaphorical kick in the nuts so that Yun and Yang (and Fei Long) could shine that much more. I've seen Pro after Pro drop their much more unique characters like Honda and Rose in favor of Yun or Fei Long. All that, plus word that Capcom will likely be doing yet another SF4? It all gives me very little reason to spend much, if anything, on SSF4AE.

Again, if SSF4AE's physical release cost the same as it's digital release, it would be no contest. However, with the digital being less than half the physical, I've got no reason not to get the digital.

Would I have liked to get The Adventures of Little Ralph physically? Sure. However, when it costs just 600 Yen on PSN yet costs around $150 on eBay, I think the choice is beyond obvious. I ain't got money to throw around for no other reason than to have a box on my shelf. As long as I can support the developer and enjoy the game, I'm happy.

And yes, there is a reason I would pay a ton of money for some JP Saturn game as opposed to pirating the shit: I ain't a pirate. If they offered the game in digital form and it was legit, then I'd gladly take that route so long as it was affordable.

I see no problem with Fei Long being the boss of the game. If nothing else his newly found god-tier like status will be what makes me buy a retail copy of AE.

No new trials is pretty lousy though.

I'll be on at 330pst, 630est, this evening - Sunday.

The kids have VBS tonight and my wife is helping out too, which means I am home alone and fully focus on punching and kicking my way to a better self image.
