Why blank out the store name? Share the find source so others can help support the retro store!
It's a secret to everyone.

Yeah... sooo. What is this game?

I've seriously never heard of it.
Me either. But I just checked some video footage and it looks decent. Kinda like.. Cyber Shinobi meets Strider.

Went to a few Gamestops today, wanted to pour over their PS2 and Gamecube games before they ended up putting them all in yellow sleeves. Such a crime! Raise your voice at your local store or to your DM and maybe we can stop this before it’s too late!

Anyway, I made some nice pickups that I wanted to share.

A lucky find, as my closest Gamestop has been clearing out PS2 sports games for a while! This one is probably going to be harder and harder to find as time goes on since it has Michael Vick on the cover, back before he went to jail and when he played with the Falcons.

A great cross-platform release, this was the first one to allow you to control a franchise – I’ll have to see if I can be a good NFL owner! It was also the first to allow you to edit lineups of historical teams and the first to feature NFL preseason drills – great little mini games that are like a game-in-a-game. Truly a landmark of the series.

A little cleaning using CRTGAMER's guide to disc polishing and sticker removal and this should be in great shape. The local Gamestop didn’t have the manual, but I was able to get them to call one a few towns over to find one and hold it for me. I drove about 23 miles to the other Gamestop, but now have it CIB!

Image

Maybe better with an Official NFL controller? Worth investigating as a future pickup. This PS3 one would work with Madden on a backwards compatible unit. I'll be on the lookout!

Image

At the other Gamestop I decided I’d maybe look over their GBA games to maybe find some not-to-be-missed carts. Lots of carts here, all being sold cheap. A great time to buy GBA games right now, but no cases and manuals as was expected. I found another game of interest, maybe a hidden treasure of the system?

Image

This is a very different game than its console siblings. Interesting fact: made by Rockstar Games, better known for Grand Theft Auto series.

Image

It plays like a cross between F-Zero and Super Off Road, maybe lots of interesting terrain to potentially discover!

Image

While I was there I noticed some PSP accessories, including one without a price.

Image

What could it be? What was its function? UMDs are know to have some problems getting scratched if you don’t have the full case. What to do with loose discs? Maybe this can solve those problems and protect the true gems until a case can be found. It would be nice to find these in bulk.

Only 1.99 for the case! A true find! Now my Twisted Metal: Head On is protected.

Image

That would make even Sweet Tooth smile!

Drove an hour home with my new discoveries, never know what you might find when you head out. Maybe a real classic, or a hidden gem!

There was a huge neighborhood wide garage sale day today. About 30 garage sales going on all at once. I made it to maybe 20 of em and found some nice finds here and there.

Star Control II (PC) - Complete in box with star chart and all inserts, manual etc. Excellent condition. - $8
Star Trek Invasion (PS1) - $2
Ninja Gaiden II (360) - $5
The Darkness (360) - $5
Maken X (DC) - missing the manual, but other wise in good condition - $3
Dead or Alive 2 (DC) - $3
Super Monkey Ball Jr. (GBA) - $2.50

I also made the mistake of buying "The Revenge of Shinobi" for GBA for $2.50. It is not what you'd expect, the only thing it has in common with the Genesis Shinobi series is that you play as a ninja. The graphics, controls, design, music and pretty much everything in the game is crap.

I also found some other good nerd finds today. A guy was selling his entire Star Trek collectibles collection including tons of action figures in box, collectible plates, and ship models. Me and my wife got a big Enterprise D with lights and sounds from '92 complete in box, a small metal Enterprise D model, some original series magnets and the Star Trek Destiny book series for $15.

I totally thought DS's post was by CRT for a minute, if I see a picture of a controller now I just assume its CRT.

Didn't end up buying anything, but I went to two gamestops today. One had a large amount of ps2 games still in the cases, even the ones under $10! They put the ones under like $6 in the sleeves though. The 2nd gamestop was probably the worst gamestop I've ever been in. ALL the ps2 games were in sleeves, and even under $10 360 games were in sleeves :x
Black DSi, Pink GBC, Softmodded Wii, Softmodded Fat Ps2, Black Gamecube, Xbox, Dreamcast, Ps1 Slim, Atomic Purple GBC, Onyx GBA SP, Gears of War 3 Edition Xbox 360 Slim, PSP 3000, NES.

I see sarcasm dripping all over that post with the CIB rant, driving distance and whatnot. Only thing missing is all the follow up Edits I do to a post. Great for a Mod impartiality overseeing the forums and copy my writing style. But still, an okay read and thanks for plugging my Disc Cleaning Thread. :D

Great but not spectacular deal
The "Find" is more in discovering the result of my purchase. As a turnaround to dsheinem's post, here is one of what I am accused of not doing, buying something online.
Amazon Mayflash Order.jpg
Why is this so special? Well, first Imagine how many hits Amazon gets per minute. The Amazon regular price is $42.99 before shipping. There were only two other alternate vendors on Amazon that sold this at less then half the price including the shipping costs. One new and one used, each alternate vendor only had ONE in stock! I am the lucky dog that just bought both of them!

Play Asia is the other source with a comparable price, but they show it as backordered. Perhaps other online retailers carry them, but I prefer a reputable site such as Amazon's sponsorship in an online purchase.

Wii PS2 to Wii Mayflash Amazon link:

Once I get these beauties
I cannot wait to try a PS2 controller, let alone all the multitude of PSX Arcade Controllers on Geometry Wars! I'll post the results of this PS2 adaptor with Auto Fire for Wii Classic Controller games on my CRTGAMER Wii Thread 8)
