I sent in my game boy pocket about 2 months after getting it. It had a line across the screen that was blank. So I called and they said to send it in. Got it back about a week later and the issue was fixed. Still works great to this day, and that has been about 13 years ago.

Forgot to mention that everything was free of charge as well :P

Yeah, not exactly planning to use their service again.
For that much, I'd have just opened the Wii up myself and fixed it. Or sold it on ebay as broken, and bought some other non-Nintendo system.

My first DS lite completely snapped in half out of warrenty. They replaced it with a refurbished one no questions asked. Was sweet.

Will they still repair a DS Lite? How much did they charge you for the service?

Well, at the time, the Wii was the new hotness, so I didn't even really think about it. This was back when you could buy a Wii at retail price and then sell it on eBay for a healthy profit. It wasn't until after the fact that I realized I just got ripped off.

I was considering opening up the Wii, but I didn't have the same confidence in operating on the Wii as I did the PS2.

I don't know if they will still repair them now, this was a while back, a few months before the DSi came out. But they gave me the refurb unit for free.

It took 2 and a half weeks, which wasnt bad, as they did say 2-3 weeks, and they did it for free (which they do for all the dual layer reading problems afaik). They also gave me a new gamecube controller cover and memory card slot cover, because mine had long since broken off. Pretty cool of them, even if it was only a small thing.
What dual layer discs are there besides Brawl anyway? I think mine may have the same problem, I have two copies of Brawl, and neither works. A friends of mine brought over their operative version too, and it didn't work either.

There are only a handful of dual layer games -- Brawl, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Other M, Samurai Warriors 3 and Sakura Wars: So Long My Love.

Brawl can be turned into a single layer game by ripping the FMV. Your Wii will need to be modded to load that disc -- or you can just load from USB like most folks are doing. All of the dual layer games can be USB loaded with minimal tweaking.

I checked on their site. It's $85 for a refurbished one now, plus tax and shipping.

Thats pretty high considering lites can often be had for $100 new as of recent. Hell, Im sure you could just buy a second hand one for like $60. No damn point getting a refurb now.
