Gotta be honest, as much as I love metal, I've never liked Metallica much at all. Same with Megadeth. Just a lot better thrash out there in my eyes. If I had to choose between the two though I'd easily go with Megadeth, but yeah. I think James Hetfield has a lot to do with it, I don't care for his voice at all.

You sir, are awesome. Which album?

Also I've been semi-obsessed with a song by Haste the Day called Resolve:

It's christian metalcore or whatever but the christian part generates way more controversy than it needs to. I don't listen to lyrics so it doesn't matter to me, plus the song is just awesome. One of the best songs I've discovered recently, along with Cutman by Unearth:

Intro is spectacular and is definitely Mega Man inspired, so you can't go wrong lol.

Got some Moonsorrow going on here. The new album is pretty good.

I think a big factor for me is that I grew up on the stuff. It was introduced to me at a very young age and it was the first metal I loved. I didn't even know what "thrash" was when I first got into them, or that there's like thousands of metal bands and hundreds of sub-genres. I agree that there's better thrash out there though, and I rarely listen to them now a days.

Very understandable. Kind of like how I grew up with Faith No More, Queensryche, Guns n' Roses and such myself... can't help but appreciate them here and there, but I don't really find myself going back to them that much thesedays. I think for maybe a lot of people that approach Metallica after hearing a lot of other thrash don't tend to be that impressed like myself, but that's just a guess haha. I mean I did listen to their debut a lot in Jr. High, but that's about the only one I really got into. Overall if you were to make a fanmade compilation of some select tracks though, they definitely have some good stuff across several albums that aren't bad at all. I say the same about Manowar... their albums aren't too consistent but they always have that one insane track or two that stands out a lot.

I'd bump it straight to the top of your list, if I were you. It's quite possibly the greatest hip-hop album of all-time.

I'm a fan of Three 6 Mafia but that's a BIG statement.
