When do you think we'll see the PS4 and Xbox 720?

I was not implying that all of Sega's games are great or even good. But I'm a huge fan of the Saturn and Dreamcast. Genesis+Sega CD is great too.

With the recent introduction of Kinect and PS Move, I feel that the Microsoft and Sony are trying to extend there systems life to the 10 year mark, So I believe the time frame is as early as 2014 but could be as late as 2016/2017.
The reason for this, I believe, is that with game development costs way up, it is in the best interest of these companies to keep supporting the PS3 and 360 and tap into their full potential. Now the new Nintendo system is slated for late 2012, assuming no delays, which logically would place it in the holiday season of 2012, which for all intentional purposes is practically 2013. They have also stated that it will only be a little more powerful than the 360 and PS3. For this reason, there is no pressing reason for Sony and Microsoft to rush a new system to market when there established machines can still compete with Nintendo's new system, and will most likely be given generous priced drops to stay competitive.
Additionally, if they play their cards right, Sony and Microsoft could release their new systems in, say holiday 2016, and in terms of hardware power, just destroy the new Nintendo system.
If Sony and Microsoft do deiced to rush new systems to market, I theorize they will be extremely expensive and only marginally better (hardware wise).

i think its too soon, ps3 and 360 still have alot to offer no need to rush for a new console. I barely own any games on my ps3
PSN- jacktsang05
WiiU- jacktsang05

I believe a holiday 2016 launch is waaaay to far away from a competitiveness standpoint. That gives the wii u four years in the market as the most advanced console. the wii u would already be pushing a 4 digit game library by the time the ps4 and xbox 720 are released, filled with hardcore 3rd-party titles, must-have first party titles, and a slew of casual games. and remember, the ps2 did have a ten year lifespan, but it did not have a ten year lifespan as the most advanced console you can buy.saturnfan wrote:With the recent introduction of Kinect and PS Move, I feel that the Microsoft and Sony are trying to extend there systems life to the 10 year mark, So I believe the time frame is as early as 2014 but could be as late as 2016/2017.

However, sony needs to have a decent sale price at launch, sony cannot afford to make the same mistake they did with the ps3 launch. I would predict that the ps4 and Xbox 720 are going to be released in early to mid 2014.
