So as some of you may know, I'm a huge fan of the first Halo game. So I decided to make a thread for it where we can go into more detail about it and post updates as they happen. I am VERY excited for this game, almost as much as I'm excited for Skyrim! Halo 1 will always be my favorite FPS game, perhaps this will change that.
Anyway, I've done a lot of research on this and here is what is known so far:
- The game will be released on November 15, 2011, exactly 10 years to the day Halo: CE was released
- Campaign graphics are completely re-done and in 1080p
- No changes to gameplay in campaign at all, it will play and feel exactly as it did 10 years ago with one slight change...
- The layout of the Library level has been SLIGHTLY changed to make it less annoying without being noticeable
- At any time during the game, u can press a button to switch back to original Halo 1 graphics
- There will be local and online co-op, it's unknown if it will be 4-player or not
- Competitive multiplayer is in the Halo: Reach engine but with 7 remade Halo 1 and 2 maps
- Confirmed maps include Damnation, Hang Em High, Beaver Creek, Infinity (From PC version), and Timberland (from PC)
- The Blood Gulch multiplayer map is not in this game (WTF!)
- There will be one firefight map which is taken from a Halo 1 campaign level
- No, there are no new weapons and you can't pick up the sword
- All the music and sound FX have been completely re-recorded faithfully to the originals
- Voice overs have not changed at all, it's the same dub but remastered for surround sound
- The game will have achievements, terminals, and easter eggs

Yep, read about that here:darthmunky wrote:- At any time during the game, u can press a button to switch back to original Halo 1 graphics

It essentially IS the Halo CE engine, and that actually excites me. I still think CE and Reach had the best "feel" and control.

Anyways, the fact that this literally is just a "remaster" has me pretty damn excited. The original Halo is a guilty pleasure I guess, it really is one of my favorite FPS's as well, and I'm glad this isn't quite a "remake", as I love Halo CE as is... so basically it's just getting an awesome new coat of paint with some extras. Definitely excited.

Is this by the Xbox or PC version? The PC version has a flamethrower and the fuel rod cannon. I really hope they let you get those, since it would make firefight more interesting.darthmunky wrote:- No, there are no new weapons and you can't pick up the sword

Thank God. Looks like I'll beat it this time, and not have to deal with a migraine from graphics during the 2.5 hours I was in the library with my brother. I never made it past that leveldarthmunky wrote: - The layout of the Library level has been SLIGHTLY changed to make it less annoying without being noticeable

That's welcome news. The library always was a gigantic pain in the ass. Talk about a troublesome, obnoxious level.darthmunky wrote: - The layout of the Library level has been SLIGHTLY changed to make it less annoying without being noticeable
I'm not a Halo nut, particularly since I never spent more than a few hours total on the multiplayer, but I always enjoyed the single player experience. It'll be nice to tackle the original again (which I haven't played in about 3 or 4 years) with a new look.
