I bought the collector's edition of FFXII for $30, and since I quit playing 25 hours in, it seems like a good buy. Heck, it's only $18 used at gamestop. But you can consider than FFVII has sold millions of copies, and could be bought for $20 new once upon a time. I tend to agree with philipofmacedon, as far as being hesitant on collecting for the sake of collecting. I try to buy games that I will actually play, but I still have a few copies of PS2 games still in their shrink wrap - nothing worth over $25, fortunately. Just games that I haven't gotten to.
(Un)fortunately, I am a huge fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series, and I've yet to buy the first Persona or Digital Devil Saga volume 1. Those two games could easily cost me over $200 in decent condition - not even mint. It makes me glad that the rest of my PS2 collection is composed of games like Okami and Odin Sphere, or SNK collections.
