Yeah, HxH has passed the trainwreck threshold for me. Sometimes I'll read a really bad series out of pure masochism, such as Bleach, because it is bad enough to be funny. Then you have series that are bad enough to be completely terrible, such as Naruto, which even when reading for the badness is just too much, or not bad in a funny way. HxH is in the latter.Xeogred wrote:The sad thing is how much of a huge seller Hiatus x Hiatus (I'm not going to forget that one, haha) still is. And how he still gets popular enough votes to be ranked among Oda and other mangaka whom actually deserve those awards and such. It's just hilarious to think HxH started up the same time around One Piece did, and One Piece is about twice as long (300+ chapters) and counting.AmishSamurai wrote:His explosions look like somebody just had a heart attack while holding a pen. The chapters are terribly inked and shaded and literally half-finished. He only puts out just enough to not get fired. That's why the nickname Hiatus x Hiatus was given.
PS- I downloaded the slayers complete collection. I'll probably livestream it for everybody here.
I just don't get it, this current 100 some chapter HxH arc that is literally a third of the series is just downright terrible and has gone in some many bad directions it's unfixable (especially after the latest 10 chapters). Characters have been left behind and just, wow. I loved everything before, but I'm pretty much ready to give up on it now.

Haha, agreed. So are you up to chapter 310? The last 10 chapters or so are what make me want to just outright stop reading it.AmishSamurai wrote:Yeah, HxH has passed the trainwreck threshold for me. When that octopus is getting full chapters throughout this arc, you know it's gone to crap.

Oh. Well then, I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't really read HxH (just a chapter or two) but I wasn't that impressed with it to begin with. (To be honest, I don't even remember how the plot started out.) I have all 28 (?) volumes of Kenshin and I have to say, that when comparing the two, HxH doesn't really compare art-wise. But the incomplete work is part of the reason why I stick to stories that I pretty much know are already complete. That way I get to read some good complete stories, and at the same time read up on the ones that are currently coming out. It saves me stress in the "When will this ever get done" department.Xeogred wrote:The sad thing is I don't even think he's that great of an artist. Rave Master (picked this one up recently, loving it!), Kenshin, Recca, just about any other shounen I've read bits of looks way better than HxH. lol, and there are literally times when he just gets outright lazy and draws some horrible sketches that look like something a kid drew.

Finished Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora. It was great. My only complaint was that some of the characters seemed a little... batshit insane. Mostly that doctor Natsume guy. But other than that it was amazing, and one of the few anime with a truly satisfying ending.
I've yet to decide what I'm gonna focus on watching next. Got quite a backlog of shows I started and put on hold that i'm gonna have to sort through. Sort of leaning towards Special A, but it's still undecided.

Finished Kemonozume. It was definitely more "adult" than other stuff of Yuasa's I've seen (Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy), and it was pretty batshit with the animation/random insertion of real photography. It also has some of a grossout factor you see more in Western Animation (for example, the main character has a problem where he always gets diarrhea in the middle of combat, and seeing dismembered naked women is not uncommon). Biggest complaint was that they made the main villain TOO over-the-top once he was revealed.

Semi-steadily working through Special A now. I'm kind of juggling it and Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru at the same time.
But more importantly: The Strawberry Panic light novel omnibus came in the mail today! I can't wait to start reading it. One look at the art on the cover and inside and the whole book just screams "kawaii." I can't help but squeal like a little school girl on the inside whenever I look at it.

I can say to animes that make you drop your sack and be a man, and those are Space Adventure Cobra the movie and Crying Freeman.
I just got done watching Cobra, It was fantastic. Crying Freeman will make you shead tears like a man and completely punk womens with a knife and your penis. See both of these now.

There were some new Cobra OVA's that were actually pretty good. The newest series was decent, obviously low budget and kind of weird... but still not bad. I need to check out the older movie though which looks great.
Cobra rocks.

Soul Eater ran through 4 seasons. But since it was every week I guess you could say it was one 51 episode season.
It's a stylish and decently done shonen action series. Certainly popular with the convention crowd. Seems to drag on way too long. The ending is one of the worst I have seen, to be honest.
