I found my Atari by itself with no cables at the swap meet. Then i found a cable that powered up my Atari so i bought it. But my Atari look all fuzzy on the TV, and I don't think it's the RF i'm using because I use the same one for my NES. But it might be because i usually use the AV cables.. and i don't have the power thingy for my NES right now so i cant connect it and see if it's the RF..
these are the electrical technological thingy's the normal Atari plug uses..
Input: 120VAC 4W 60Hz
Output: 6VDC 0.3A
Polarity: I don't now how to read that but the + isn't at the center and there's a circle in the middle.. i looks kinda like --(o-+ some thing like that
I know NOTHING about electricty.. all I know is how to plug it in
i have a:
Atari 2600 jr, Front loading NES, Top loading NES, Retro duo, Nintendo 64, Game Cube with a GameBoy Player, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color,Gameboy Advance, GameBoy Advance sp, DS Lite, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, Bandai WonderSwan Color and Neo Geo pocket Color ;D
No harm done since the replacement power supply has a lower voltage. I'm surprised the 2600 still powered up! Get a correct 9 Volt DC output adaptor, be sure the milliamps is the same or greater.
The fuzzy screen is definitely RF interference, try the channel selector on the 2600 and change the TV channel to match. Also a direct connect, bypassing the unshielded cable switch might help.

The 2600 might be getting by with the 6 volts, but .3 A is only 300 mA, so that power brick is going to be straining pretty hard to power it. I'd find a more proper brick so the 6 volt one doesn't one day buy the farm and take the 2600 with it. When I tried a NES auto RF box with a 2600 it barely worked at all. Better to buy one of the little adapters that are sold that changes that RCA plug to a coax or mod the 2600 for composite/svid.
