They created Kirby later on, I guess earthbound was sort of in there, but seriously, when will they make something else? And anyone that counts the Mii stuff or wii sports, resort, all that stuff skip that argument and get to something that is actually a story with substance.

Mario? Kirby? Story?

Not all games need story- especially not older franchises. Look at Sonic to see what happens when you try to shoehorn in story.

Sorry, I wasn't complaining about stories, I just meant that wii sports, mii stuff doesn't count toward a new IP in the traditional sense since there aren't any characters or real substance beyond mini-games.

I'm just wondering when we will get some new characters added to the nintendo legacy. The ones they have now are a little long in the tooth. I'm not saying they should abandon them, keep making pokemon games, mario, zelda, etc. but it would be nice to play a new unique game, in a new universe, that isn't skinned in a familiar franchise (a la Kirbys epic yarn)

It depends on the game, and how well it's mapped. Touchscreens are extremely intuitive for certain games as well.

I agree, it's not a very hard connection to make that pushing a button = something happens on screen. Some motion controls could be harder to grasp too - like, say, shaking the controller while in the middle of a jump to do a spin.

At some point or another, you're just substituting a waggle for a button, and that's not intuitive. Letting you swing a Wii-mote instead of holding a button down to charge, then releasing it when the meter is at the right spot, etc...arguably is easier.

Ok, so the next order of business... how much for EACH controller Nintendo? *shudders at thought*

There's still nothing indicating that the machine can support using more than one of the new controller.

My biggest disappointment of E3: Pikmin 3 still doesn't seem to exist.

I guess it really is vapourware at this point :(

If it can't, I probably won't be picking this system up. I'd hate to shell out for a new console to be stuck using Wii-motes.

I'm very impressed with the Wii U. Yeah, the name is fucking stupid but other than that, I have no major complaints. The controller looks awesome. The Wii U hardware itself looks to be on par with the PS3 graphically and does 1080p HD, so that's awesome. And we can use all of our existing Wii controllers. As long as they don't have DLC and such, I will be very happy to purchase a Wii U next year.

If it costs more than $300 or if the controller itself costs $100, that's fine with me. I don't mind paying more for a higher quality product.

Well, presumably, you'd still have a use for it at all times - but look at all their examples of using it in a multiplayer situation. One player has the new controller, four more are using Wii controllers for splitscreen on the TV.
You'd think if it could do more than one, they'd show people playing Goldeneye or whatever all with their own screen. Realistically, it's probably just a lot of pixels to push just doing controller + HDTV as it is. Doing 4-5+ of them would be rough, at least, for 3D stuff.

I'm not getting Wii U. I'm not paying more than I paid for the Wii and I'm not paying more than 20 bux for a controller separably. for any system for that matter. never have, never will. im sticking with snes.
