yeah nintendo's only real fuck up with this e3 was not making it clear enough that the wii-u is, in fact, a new console.

Also, 3DS is suddenly a must-have, can't believe I even considered the PSV being better.
darthmunky wrote: I hope not, lol. This is the worst E3 I've ever seen. I think even Microsoft did better this year. Wii U is complete and utter shit. it was supposed to be more powerful than 360 and PS3 combined... well it still just looks like high res gamecube graphics. and where the fuck is the actual console, I want to see pics and specs of the hardware.
Didn't you see that game with the bird? Graphics seem to have plenty of power. Besides, you can't argue with handheld Smash Bros. and Mario with Tanooki Suits and Music Boxes. The other sites I'm talking about this on, and my IRL friends are all pumped. I think it's just you guys who aren't.

EDIT: In all seriousness, a handful of the confirmed 3DS games can probably beat out Sony and Microsoft combined this year(In my mind, doesn't even matter what you think of Wii-U.
That bird game didn't look that good to me. Mass Effect 1 from 2007 has better graphics than that. And I don't care about 3DS at all, none of that interests me, I'm not a portable gamer. I was waiting for some GOOD classic game announcements like a new DKC 2d game, metroid, normal mario game, killer instinct 2, a chrono trigger remake/sequel, etc. but nope, all they talked about was 3d, portable gaming, and stupid gimmicks. why cant nintendo just do something normal? this is prob my biggest disappointment all year.

New console, new controller for only said console. Seriously, I thought that was clear?
Well, it seems the focus has only been on the controller thus far. Everyone is still waiting for the system specs

Also, is Nintendo going to setup a new online service for this thing or what?

Ok, so I'm a little overwhelmed by the Wii-U controller because it does so many things, but I think once I get accustomed to it, it will be awesome. From the press conference it looks like it:

1. Functions as a typical dual analog stick.
2. Lets you switch between playing on your TV or playing on your handheld controller.
3. Can be used as a drawing pad or touch screen.
4. Can play standalone games, like Go on a table top.
5. Can provide unique combinations of TV and handheld, such as playing Zelda on your TV with your inventory in your handheld screen.
6. Has a camera and microphone for online play, such as seeing your friends faces in Star Fox.
7. Has some sort of motion control that recognizes the controllers position in relation to the screen so you can do things like catch a baseball using your controller as a mit and aiming it at the part of the screen where the ball is at.

Man, it does everything. Did I leave something out? They really should have spent more time explaining these features instead of announing a gold Wii mote. The combo of a handheld device touchscreen device with a TV is going to allow for some really innovative gameplay ideas if some smart developers really utilize the technology. That is the kind of technology that opens doors for some really cool gameplay ideas.

Ah, cool. As I said, I haven't been watching these things, I just watched that video, so I wasn't sure. So...does this mean I can play an FPS where I can use the custom gun models that several companies have been releasing for the Wii while a friend snipes with the WiiU set into the Zapper?

Because that would be awesome.

Well, that and not really talking about the console either. I heard a lot about the controller, but nothing about what's under the hood of the machine, what it does to fix their horrible online system, what format discs will be, etc.

If anything, I thought there were too many remakes/sequels. New Star Fox, new Luigi's Mansion, new Super Mario Bros, new Kid Icarus, new Tekken, new Darksiders, new Ghost Recon, new Assassin's Creed, new DiRT, new Ninja Gaiden... they were just missing on new IP.

Iwata said it is a console. He said something along the lines of "It is not a portable gaming system. Information is transmitted from the console to the controller."

Yep. My impression was that it's basically an iPad with buttons and remote play functionality.

Nintendo actually bored me with all the sequels/remakes. (Well that and Reggie almost put me to sleep). I'm not really excited for any new Nintendo games coming out besides Skyward Sword.
