There's a couple of reasons. Namely these:
- The voice acting is (strangely) noticeably worse, some characters don't even sound the same at all. Mei Ling is apparently American now.
- MGS has never been one to be subtle but the cut-scenes are completely ridiculous. Snake is not supposed to be dancing around like a madman and doing backflips in every combat scene.
- The music is utterly ruined, this is the biggest issue for me. (proof: Encounter, Warhead Storage)
- They just slapped the MGS 2 engine onto MGS. All of the new mechanics are pretty much useless and feel stiff in the confines of MGS (with the exception of first person view). The blend does not work at all and as a result the actual gameplay is much less enjoyable than the gameplay of the two games it's a mixture of.

It still makes no sense why they would not remake MGS1 for this. It should be ALL MGS games in HD. Same goes for the tomb raider collection, its not even the original 3. and silent hill collection is only going to have silent hill 2 and 3. this is bullshit. They would have been better off releasing each game separately on PSN and XBLA rather than a retail disc with the word "Collection" on the box because that is a lie.

Exactly my issues with it. I fucking hate Twin Snakes. I couldn't get passed the tank hanger, I hated it that much.

Boomshakalaka. Get that shit out of here!

Encounter, Warhead Storage. My favorite has always been mother fucking Escape! This song just triggers infinite flashbacks of having to fight Liquid 20 times to take down that beast. Damn epic.

Truth to be told, the MGS3 OST is damn amazing and one of my favorites, but the original OST has always been pretty special to me and has charm you can't top. I kind of almost wish they kept that composer (or in house team of composers it seems) for the whole series. MGS1's OST is incredible on its own, but I can't say the same for MGS2 or MGS4... listening to them outside of the game I get pretty bored, pretty fast. Gregson-Williams did a good job on MGS3 though.

Niode got farther than I did. I'm not touching Twin Snakes ever again and I've seen too many cutscenes from it online that I never want to see again, lol.

Konami made a statement saying the MGS Collection is going to be released in November.

Twin Snakes did do the Ninja scenes really well. Especially the scene in the hallway where he's slaughtering all those soldiers.

Probably the only scene I really like better than its original counterpart.

The cut-scenes from Twin Snakes were about as ridiculous as this.

There has to be a clinical name for this because I suffer from the same disease.

I own way too much MGS stuff. I own every PSP game in the series but still haven't gotten around to playing any of them.

Worse then that I had to have the limited edition Peace Walker keychain they gave away for preordering in Japan. I don't want to admit what that cost but I didn't think I would every pay that much for a "free" keychain.
