I don't really know what to say to that... are you serious?

Totally.

Releasing stripped down versions of games that are being released concurrently in better forms vs updated classics that serve as definitive versions of the game they are based on? Not even the same at all.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

You're blurring the lines here. How do you know the PSP2 ports aren't going to be "definitive versions"? I can guarantee you that the 3DS is going to have loads of games that are just "________ 3DS", and you know it's true. I can think of like 5 games off the top of my head that will just be like straight ports with superfluous features added, and a quick look at the Wikipedia page for 3DS games brings many more to that list.

1 game being released on two consoles. One console is PS3. The other is PS Vita.

Gee, I wonder which one is going to be the left overs?

Ironically (Being a PlayStation fan) I can't stand most of the big first party series that the PlayStation brand has or is getting. Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, inFAMOUS, Sly, Little Big Planet, Killzone, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, and all of that Move shit. So far what I've seen of the Sony press conference has been utterly disappointing as its been rehashes of all of that kind of stuff. Oh, and the PSV which looks... like a waste of money for someone who has to choose between it (A $250+ console with no interesting looking games and a lot of gimmicky features) and a PSP (A $120 console with an almost 6 year long backlog of amazing looking and cheap games).

Though it's nice to hear that Metro: 2033 is getting a sequel. Even nicer to hear that it will be multiplatform so I can actually play it.

So far the only things I'm really hoping to hear some news on are Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Metal Gear Solid Rising. Also it would be really cool if a new Blazblue and/or Guilty Gear game got announced. And Fallout 4.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

You get my point. Both handhelds will be loaded with ports. All handhelds are loaded with ports. This is nothing new.

It has backwards compatibility with all of the PSP content on the PSN store -- they even showed that games will have their controls automatically remapped to take advantage of the second analogue.

..but no, no bloody UMD, and good riddance.

Gonna be honest - Sony and promises of backwards compatibility...I'm a bit of a skeptic these days.

If this thing had a UMD drive I'd be much more inclined to buy down the road, I'll say that much.

Isn't one of the most anticipated titles for the 3DS Zelda: Ocarina of Time?
Isn't the Killer Ap for the 3DS currently Super Street Fighter 4?

BlazBlue: CS2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Tales of the Abyss, and I'm sure a few I'm missing are up there too.

Sure, 3DS has some exclusives like Mega Man Legends 3 (if it comes out) and Dead or Alive: Dimensions, but PSV has some as well like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Little Deviants.

It's not a bad thing that the portables are getting console ports. If it were impossible to port the games to the portables, then these third-party publishers would likely ignore the systems altogether.

Portables have always been home to vastly inferior versions of console games. This may be the first time that the portables actually resemble the console - or hell, even trump the console versions.

Personally, I just want to see more portable-to-console connectivity. I like portable games, I just hate portables themselves. That's why I loved Super Game Boy and the GCN Game Boy Player so much.
