I'm very surprised the PSP2 is going to launch at $250. I'm still more interested in a 3DS, but only because it's less gimmicky (wow), and more importantly, it has the games I'm interested in.

Either way, I won't be buying either for at least 2 years, if ever.

Sony is painting themselves into the exact same corner they did with the PSP: Every single significant game I see...is just a port of a console game.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Im amazed by the PSVita pricing. Predicting a significant price drop by nintendo closer to Christmas.

I hope Nintendo has the stuff to secure their lead as usual, I dunno how I'd handle a handheld market not dominated by Nintendo

Well it's not like the 3DS (and every other handheld) isn't doing that.

The PSP has been successful. Not AS successful as the NDS but, really, who cares? We've learned this gen that the market is big enough for two handhelds to succeed by catering to different audiences. I don't think they are "painted into a corner" at all...

But the 3DS isn't doing that at all. You have SSFIV, of course, but that's about it for console-substitute titles. Most of the software on the 3DS right now is new. The games coming out that have been on consoles before are all beefed up as opposed to being stripped down versions of concurrent home releases.

We're talking about two different kinds of success here. I am talking about 'win the fight by fixing your mistakes' success, ala Rocky II. You are talking about 'getting hit the face over and over again but somehow still standing' success ala Rocky I.

Financially speaking, Sony would do well to change its game plan this time around. Unless, of course, they are down for being second fiddle from the start again.

And yet they are still ports; updated or otherwise.

I'm sure we'll see some new original titles coming up when the console gets closer to release.

I don't really know what to say to that... are you serious?
