"Bring back" the glory? They've been far more popular and successful this gen then they ever were with the NES or SNES.

I think he just means the days when "Nintendo" was synonymous with "Video Game"

Actually, knowing folks around here...most of those ideas sound pretty keen!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Well by sales, yes. But the hardcore audience has been VERY disappointed with Nintendo since GameCube. And the Wii marked their departure from "hardcore gaming". What I meant was Nintendo has not been hardcore since N64. Their glory days were the 90s. By glory, I mean quality. Like if you compare the SNES to the Wii, the Wii is nothing but turd fungus. Wii has less than 10 fantastic games.

I lost interest in Nintendo after the SNES honestly. Although I realize I'm largely in the minority there.

Not at all. I was right there with you during the N64 days. They got me back with the Gamecube and the Wii, though.

I think darthmunky is talking about fun, not popularity or money. The "best" game is the one that is enjoyable to play, not the one that sells a lot of copies. At least that's how it is from the gamer's viewpoint.

Nintendo has redeemed themselves a bit lately with a return to making quality games, but the Wii has still left a bad flavor in the mouths of many gamers. Motion control was overall a failure. Wii Motion Plus has the capability to make it actually work well but hardly any games take advantage of it. A lot of the time we end up using our old Gamecube controllers. Speaking of the Gamecube, the Wii hardware pretty much is a Gamecube. From the hardcore gamer's view, we have been playing Gamecube games this whole time. It's not horrible, but Nintendo could have done a lot better. Personally I like my Wii and I play it sometimes but honestly it is a bit of a disappointment because it didn't really improve on anything since the Gamecube.

Tomorrow's big Cafe presentation could be the return to the glory days. We want the old Nintendo back. The Nintendo who makes games for gamers. We want new, powerful, high quality gaming that is actually an improvement. If you compare the NES to the SNES, you can see a big improvement. Same for every other console except the Wii. The Wii felt more like a step back, to be honest. They re-released the Gamecube but made it worse with shoddy motion controls and a demographic change to include non-gamers.

I am a Nintendo fan, even if it may not sound like it. As a Nintendo fan, I'd like to see them do better.

Let me know if you want to sell your PS3 and get an xbox360. I'll follow suit so we can keep playing SSFIV.
