Have you ever thrown out a game?

Post by molotovwars »

Usually with crap games that are difficult to sell I just take them down to my local game store and dispose of them there taking whatever pennies they decide to give me. On one occasion it was a copy of Tony Hawk 3 or 4 for the GBA. The game had no label on it and they wouldn't take it. There were tons of copies on amazon.com for $0.01 and they weren't selling. I threw it out and have never regretted it. I've also thrown out some shitty DS "covers" like to go around the system that I got for free when I bought other stuff from this one seller. Not worth keeping and not worth the work to even try to sell.

I made this topic because I might be throwing away some games again. This time they aren't even bad games, but international shipping might be to expensive to bring in any buyers. I listed a lot of 5 Japanese Saturn games (including a few RPGs - shining force, dragon force, albert odyssey) at $9.99 and they didn't sell. I've relisted it at $4.99 and with a day and a half left it has no bidders. I got these kind of for free while buying a Saturn here in Korea. I dont' want them and if they don't sell this time they might be getting the bin.

Anyone else thrown out a game?

While its not my first thought, there are games that I don't want to play and no one wants to buy. I could toss them in with other games, but I wouldn't want someone to pass that crap off to me, plus depending on the item it just inflates shipping costs that I nor the buyer would want to pay. I don't want to keep this crap sitting around and while someone made a toilet out of some SNES games, I'd rather not have them at all than have to stare at them every time I take a piss.

The way the majority of gamers treat the hobby, they may as well.

Ever bought something you played through once, never touched it again, but still have it? 100 times over? Then try to make it sound impressive by saying you've got over 100 games for that console?

That isn't necessarily from experience, but I've seen it with others.

I haven't. Wouldn't really see the point. I've got enough other games that a few more wouldn't really affect the space requirements much. Arguably, even non-working games could show a license.

Silver Surfer for the NES.

I was young, it was murderously hard, it saved my NES from being beaten to death.

I still don't regret it.

Yeup. Murakumo: Renegade Mech Pursuit.

I remember watching the trailer for it in Gamestop like 100 times as a kid and wanting it so badly. Didn't have an Xbox though. I got one when I was 18 (22 now). About three years ago I saw it in a store and thought "ThisisthatgameI'vegottogetititwillbeawesome!!" Turns out it's a giant turd. For disappointing me so much I microwaved it, broke it in half, and threw it out. I didn't even try to sell it.
