The very first time I played it (no guide) I think it took me around 40 hours. On a replay after you know what you're doing and have read guides and such, it can probably be beaten fairly easily in 20 hours.o.pwuaioc wrote:Anyone know how long Breath of Fire III takes? I reckon I'm still at the very beginning, but still I'd like to know how fast I should run through this.
Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011

Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
So I technically finished Chrono Trigger this morning, though I wouldn't say I've beaten it as I got a bad ending (and I know there are supposed to be good ones). I fought the final boss at the first chance I got, and lost while facing his 7th or 8th form.
I guess I need to either go grind and/or buy lots of items to do the fight up right. Still, the game seems pretty short as it only took me a little under 12 hours to get the chance to finish it. Is there a bunch of stuff I am missing? I haven't stumbled across a single sidequest, for example...

Incidentally, welcome to the forums! Looks like a great list to discuss to get you started here! I spent a lot of time with Ikaruga last winter before "beating" it (aka earning enough credits) - GOOD LUCK!gaiagez wrote:Oh, what a nice idea! I'll join in too, since I always need more motivation to beat some games. Here's my list... which is subject to change, if I find a better fit or some of the games make me break my TV:
1. Mega Man Legends 2
2. Mega Man 2
3. Sonic CD
4. Ikaruga
5. Shadow Hearts
6. Shining Force
7. Metal Gear Solid
8. LittleBigPlanet
9. Portal 2
10. Brave Fencer Musashi
I found it really hard to make a list without flooding it with RPGs... that seems to be all I buy nowadays! And of course, most of the non-RPG games are pretty hard (at least for my lack-luster gaming skills), so it's gonna be a doozy. It was also a little hard to make it all older 'classics' per se... I don't own as many retro games as I would like.
I can't really start today, but when I DO start, it'll likely be with Shadow Hearts (it's the only game on the list I have progress in) and Mega Man 2. Let's see how far we all can get!

Yup, it is an ending where things go badly because you lost. Again, I am not content with it and plan to try again, but I would consider it an end of the game.noiseredux wrote:wait, so you can lose and still finish the game?dsheinem wrote:So I technically finished Chrono Trigger this morning, though I wouldn't say I've beaten it as I got a bad ending (and I know there are supposed to be good ones). What will you consider endgame? Defeating Red? You've got a while to go then, I just quit most of the pokemon titles after beating the Elite Fourswiftzx wrote:For my first game, Pokemon Heartgold, I am at Goldenrod and am training my Pokemon in order to beat Whitney. My party right now is:

wow weird. I'd personally consider it beaten, but that's just me. You played the game until you got an ending. BUT I can see you wanting to beat it again for a good ending.dsheinem wrote: Yup, it is an ending where things go badly because you lost. Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
well, i wasn't going to get too formal with my list but i guess i'll hop on the bandwagon and write out a few of my high-priority games:
- chrono trigger (SNES) --> current
- metroid prime 3 corruption (wii)
- resident evil: director's cut (PS) --> i've been trying to finish this for ages. if i get through this i'll consider this effort to be a complete success.
- tloz: oracle of ages (GBC)
- bionic commando (NES)
- yoshi's story (N64)
nothing too onerous so shouldn't be too difficult, assuming i don't get distracted.
