Was I the only person who expected her to find a Dharma Initiative hatch?

Never been a fan of the Tomb Raider series, but the last one that came out with co-op play was boss. Had a lot of fun with that title.

On topic, I thought this looked awesome and got me interested as a teaser. I hope they throw in some gameplay when an actual trailer comes around. I agree with @GamerForLife that the Arkham trailer was way better. I think I am more interested in this game though, because it seems like it is going in a new direction and Batman kinda seems like more of the same.

You really should try the recent Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. It was very different from other Tomb Raider games and remarkably fun to play.brunoafh wrote:This is one of those franchises that I can't for the life of me figure out how it's still alive and kicking.

It's like the only TR game that seemed to actually give a crap about whether or not the action was fun. Always been a pet peeve of mine with the series that they portray Lara as this action heroine and yet the combat is always the part of her games that clearly get half assedJ T wrote:You really should try the recent Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. I don't know that I totally agree with this assessment. I think the gameplay since Crystal Dynamics took over the series has been pretty darn solid.Gamerforlife wrote:It's like the only TR game that seemed to actually give a crap about whether or not the action was fun. I was able to see gameplay at E3 in one of those closed door theaters. The game is awesome! It seems like after Uncharted came out Square/Eidos was like "Crap, we gotta make that." But either way the game is cool. Probably the best Tomb Raider yet.

It looks pretty damn awesome to me and I can't wait to play the game, but it's going to have to do something real special to make me forgetNathanBarnatt wrote:I was able to see gameplay at E3 in one of those closed door theaters. SPOILER - suddenly finding myself in a hidden underground prehistoric setting unchanged by time and being attacked by that huge ass T-rex and hiding in a hole shooting at it from behind a waterfall hoping it doesn't stick its head head in and eat me up. /SPOILER

Yeah, that was the awesomeness of the ORIGINAL Tomb Raider. TR II had some moments like that too like when you're underwater staring into the abyss and then, out of nowhere see a shark coming straight at you!Czernobog wrote:It looks pretty damn awesome to me and I can't wait to play the game, but it's going to have to do something real special to make me forgetNathanBarnatt wrote:I was able to see gameplay at E3 in one of those closed door theaters. The series has been up and down ever since. Crystal Dynamics nailed a lot of things, but the combat in Legend was crap. Anniversary had this wonderful adrenaline dodge system that allowed you to stylishly avoid incoming attacks. The game got annoying in the last few stages though when you started having so many enemies coming at you that taking damage was inevitable. Underworld was another great game, but the combat took a big step backwards by eliminating the adrenaline dodge system due to some whiners who couldn't get the simple timing down. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was great though, except for an incredibly, cheap, annoying final boss. It was the first TR game with good combat though, a lot like Dead Nation's twin stick combat
I don't want Tomb Raider to become Uncharted though. I am so sick of hearing about that overrated series. I want TR to find its own identity. There are more than enough games out there copying everyone else. Just last night I played a boss fight in Darksiders that is a CARBON COPY of one of the bosses in Shadow of the Colossus. It was the gaming equivalent of plagiarism and by comparison makes the Titan battles in Castlevania:Lords of Shadow seem only vaguely inspired by Shadow of Colossus.
