Hackers Who Hit Sony Now Breach Nintendo's U.S. Website
Re: Hackers Who Hit Sony Now Breach Nintendo's U.S. Website
All I can say is what can they get from Nintendo Server? Isn't the online system for the Nintendo console and handheld are base on friend code? If they did got those, how will they know which friend code goes to which people? If they target the club Nintendo, it might make sense as it does contain the address of the people but not the credit card number. Basically, they isn't much point to target Nintendo as they isn't much stuff to get except pride and the LOL.

Still, let's face it, these folks are doing it purely out of fanboyism. Consider what they did with Nintendo and how they responded.dsheinem wrote:I'd like to see you give up everything in your life that has been made better and/or more secure because of hackers.ajsracket wrote: Hackers are worthless pieces of shit who do nothing but destroy.
(Like messageboards, for example.)
Also consider the reason they hacked the PBS website. A story that wasn't completely 100% complimentary of Wikileaks? So any time any news source or television station isn't completely complimentary of your viewpoint, you react by launching attacks on them? That seems disturbingly out of line. Think about what the media would become if any time they mentioned a viewpoint opposed by someone, said person launched assaults on their security. The concept of Free Speech goes right out the window, doesn't it? Purely due to someone's "inspired" vigilantism.
Let 'em rot, I say.

Keep in mind, the whole "not 100% complimentary of wikileaks" is Kotaku's words, and I would assume they're biased about the issue, thusly they said that.Ack wrote:Still, let's face it, these folks are doing it purely out of fanboyism. If you read the article clip that was posted, they didn't actually steal anything, they simply made a breach, and did no harm. People need the calm down, yes some hackers do damage to corporations and people, but not all of them do it, and certainly not all the time. Personally I'm grateful that the whole PSN debacle happened, because it forced Sony to upgrade their security, which I would bet they never would have done had the whole incident not happened.
The way I figure it, until we start getting stories of individual people that are being wronged in some way by these hackers (identity theft, etc.) then I don't see any reason to be upset about it.

I'll half raise my hand... I wouldn't have used PSN regardless of the downtime, and the games they offered I already owned or have no interest in. So I wasn't really effected negatively nor positively.
edit: Then again they stole my personal info, published it, and probably sold it. So yeah there's that too.

So they have to hit the extreme before you'll consider what they did to be bad? It's not that they broke into a company and stole credit card information, it's not bad that they've attacked multiple companies, and it's not bad that they've attacked other companies for saying things they didn't care for.Lokkenjawnz wrote:If you read the article clip that was posted, they didn't actually steal anything, they simply made a breach, and did no harm. Look, you want to see folks affected by it? Ask anybody who has been unable to play PlayStation games with friends and family for the last month. Ask the folks who have been unable to use the services they wanted to use, like Netflix. Hell, ask the folks here, the ones who wanted to run fighting game tournaments with each other but couldn't do it. Sure, Sony updates their security, that is a silver lining, but it doesn't by a long shot justify what methods this group used.
