You need to alternate between physical and magical attacks, depending on the form he's using. He switches back and forth throughout the battle.
what? What do you mean? He never LOOKS any different... explain?
Just to be sure, we're talking about the blue dragon, Heckran, right?

I'm sorry, when I said form, I meant his pose. Ignore what I said earlier about alternating, I made a mistake.

Here's the deal:

When he curls up with his arm forward and tells you to attack, absolutely do not attack at all. If you do, he counters with Water. Just heal up or use items to restore your magic. Wait him out.

Do your best to hit him only with magic, (he's extremely resistant to physical attacks, you can use them, it just won't do much good) and only do so when he's standing up.

I like this idea. Although for me, summer is my busiest time of year. I put together 10 games I should have already played and games I've started but not finished.

1. Chrono Trigger -snes - Everyone else is doing it.
2. Yoshi's Island - snes -This one has eluded me for too long.
3. Snatcher - I dont read books, does this count?
4. Mario 64 -N64 - owned this from the launch, and still havent beaten it.
5. Mario Sunshine - GC - 2/3 done, time to check this one off the list.
6. Donkey Kong Country - snes - Never got into them, going to give them a chance.
7. Kirby's Adventure - nes - Never beat it and I think its a short game.
8. Super Punchout! - snes - Timing is everything.
9. Megaman - nes - Yes, Megaman 1, isnt that where you have to start?
10. Knytt - pc - I love good freeware games, this is one of them.

I'm in! Heres my list:

1. Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (Wii)
2. Vay (Sega CD)
3. Super Mario Sunshine (GCN)
4. Wario Land (VB)
5. Battletoads/Double Dragon (SNES)
6. Panzer Dragoon (Sat)
7. Kung Fu (NES)
8. Gex (3DO)
9. FFVIII (PS)
10. FFXII (PS2)

Tried to make sure I got a good variety of systems to choose from.

Started Mario Sunshine tonight. I've played it before for a bit a very long time ago, but definitely didnt finish it. I've gotten 32 stars so far and I think thats getting close to were I was last time. The only real issue I'm having is the camera, and its alright on most levels but a few specific types of missions have been made a lot harder because of it.

Aside from the camera the game just doesnt seem very "mario". The setting, enemies, music (on some levels more than others), pacing and attacks just dont jive with the character I'm playing. I'm glad to give it another chance, but I doubt it would even register on my top 10 Mario games.

Not sure which game to tackle after this one. Any suggestions?

Try to get at least one of the RPGs out of the way early. You don't want to be staring down a bunch of long games to try and finish close to the end of the summer.

- Super Mario Land (GB)
- Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (GB)
- Metroid II: The Return of Samus (GB)
- Burning Rangers (SAT)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (GEN)
- Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
- Metroid Prime 2 (GCN)
- Resident Evil 4 (GCN)
- Bangaio (DC)
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Pilots Locus (GCN)

One down! Great way to start the summer challenge. Warioland was a lot of fun once I got used to it. I got a pretty terrible ending but I usually do in these games as I've never been a 100% kind of gamer.

I'm thinking about doing Gundam next but I am debating if I should start Tales and get that going. I'll probably need the whole summer to play that one off and on.

EDIT: Got some advice from lisalover1 and have started Tales of Symphonia. So far it's way more palatable for me than most RPG's. The fact that the combat is all action is a huge plus. The graphics are...weird. Like, I don't think I've ever seen a game with this kind of presentation. I can't put my finger down on what makes it distinctive, though.

Hopefully I don't get bored with it like I usually do with most RPG's.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Time shouldnt be an issue for me. I've got a ridiculous amount of time to game most days and often hit RPGs back to back when the mood strikes.

I played a bit of Kung Fu today. Cant believe I'd never finished it before considering how short it is. Finished it on Mode A and B. When I'm done with Sunshine I think I'll give FFVIII a go. Like Sunshine I tried to get into it when it was fairly new and didnt get more than a few hours in.

yeah my stance is to simultaneously work on a long game and short game at the same time. So like I have Chrono Trigger, Myst and Silent Hill on my list. Right now I'm working on Chrono Trigger and playing Mega Man X4 when I need a break from CT.

so after beating Double in MMX4 I couldn't save, and couldn't progress. TOOK ME FOREVER to beat that short stage with the high road/low road paths. But I just beat The General who was easier to me than Double was.

This!

I generally like to play one big game, one short game, and one handheld game at a time. For instance, right now I'm playing Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Outland, and Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls.

Interestingly enough, I anticipated Half-Life 2: Episode 1 being the big game, and Outland being the shorter of the two, but I didn't realize how short HL2E2 was...

Anyway, here's my list for this summer.

Final Fantasy II - GBA
Final Fantasy III - DS
Final Fantasy IV - DS
Final Fantasy V - GBA
Final Fantasy VI - GBA
Final Fantasy VII - PSP
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 -360
Portal - 360
Little Big Planet - PS3
Scribblenauts - DS

I couldn't think of a tenth game, so I let Backloggery open a fortune cookie for me and out popped Scribblenauts. I know there was a lot of hype for it, and I've played a little bit of it before. I guess it could be considered a classic. Hope its a good one!

As far as all of the Final Fantasy games go, I've never beat any of them before, with the exception of IX. I've played some of them, almost to completion in some cases, but never finished them. I'm currently playing the original Final Fantasy on the GBA right now, and I'm in love with it.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 makes sense for me cause I just beat Half-Life 2 and I'm almost done with Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Portal is next in line on The Orange Box, and I've heard its amazing, so that goes on the list as well.

Little Big Planet is a game I purchased right when I got my PS3, and I have really enjoyed what I've played so far. I intend to finish the single player before the summer's end. :)

So I just finished a major, awesome battle in Chrono Trigger (SNES) and am now in a chapter entitled "Forward to the Past". The game keeps getting even better as it goes :) Am I approaching half way yet?
