Did me just fine when I was a kid. I imagine there's tons of bacteria growing in a hose from the residual water, but that's just something to make sure your immune system is working properly. ;)
Plus you need it to really capture all that flavor.

I'm actually working at a start-up right now. What we're doing is grinding up garden hoses and putting them into little pouches to mix with tapwater. We wanted to capture the purity of childhood and summertime, as well as nostalgia for time gone by, so we call our product "Petrox." Look for us next to the Kool-Aid next time you're at the grocery store!
