Saturn CUE Error

Post by spiritplx »

I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered previously, but my search did not turn up the answers I was looking for.

This is concerning Saturn images in ISO + MP3 format. Whenever I convert the MP3s to WAVEs and then update the CUE sheet accordingly (or use the CUE sheet that was provided in the download that already listed the audio as WAVEs) and then try and open the CUE in CDMage, I get the following error:

"File length doesn't match sector boundary"

Here is a quick example of a CUE sheet that gets this error.

Code: Select all

FILE "mrb_pga_tour_97 track 01 MODE1-2048.iso" BINARY
  TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
      INDEX 01 00:00:00
      POSTGAP 00:02:00
FILE "mrb_pga_tour_97 track 02 AUDIO-2352.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 02 AUDIO
    PREGAP 00:02:00
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "mrb_pga_tour_97 track 03 AUDIO-2352.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 03 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "mrb_pga_tour_97 track 04 AUDIO-2352.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 04 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
The ISO and WAVEs are all in the same directory as the CUE sheet. I used MP3Workshop to convert from MP3 to WAVEs using the default settings.

The CUE sheet seems to load up in Alcohol 120% just fine, and records fine as well. However, none of them have worked in an emulator (Yabause) so far (although I am not sure if any I have tried work in the emulator at all). Should I just ignore this error and burn anyway? Or will this lead to my games failing at random parts in the game later on?

Thanks for the help.

I use a little program called segacuemaker to make new .cue's after converting the audio files, google for it and it'll certainly solve your problem. You just have to select the iso file and it automatically adds any audio files that are in the same folder.

Yes, I use SegaCueMaker if the CUE is not already provided (and if it is I still try it and still the same error each time).

Here is an example of a CUE sheet that loads in CDMage with no errors, however, it then does not have the option to "Scan For Corruption". Here is the CUE:

Code: Select all

    INDEX 01 00:02:00
The only difference is that each audio entry has an INDEX 00 and INDEX 01, whereas the CUE that give errors only have INDEX 01. I am not sure what those INDEX entries mean exactly, or how the time is determined for each. I know that SegaCueMaker does not add the INDEX 00 entries at all.

Another thing to note is that the above CUE sheet of Daytona seemed to burn and run properly (I ran through one race with no noticeable issues).

In that case I really don't know what to say, I'm not an expert in these matters. My .cue's also just have Index 01 and still they work fine.

Are you playing on a real Saturn or on emulators? Have you tried just burning the games and see if they work fine?

Sorry for not being of much help, let's wait for someone more knowledgeable to show up.

I am hoping to play on my Saturn (I am just using an emulator to test the images, although I do not think the emulators support any of the images in question).

I have not yet burnt/tested any of these images because I do not want to burn them and then find out later that they fail while playing through the game (there are still about 40 games in question). If anyone knows that this is a common error that CDMage gives even for correct images, let me know. I just don't want to get stuck with more coasters.
