Flea Markets/ Thrift Stores

Post by itsmattxp »

So I'm going to a huge flea market tomorrow in hopes of finding some games for cheap that I could sell to fuel my other gaming needs. When ya'll go to flea markets/thrift stores, how do you all know when you're getting a good deal? For instance, if there's cheap n64 games out there and you haven't heard of many, how do you know if you're getting a good deal for them? Also how much should I bargain systems for like NES, SNES, etc?

look for good 1st party games on all systems except genny (sonic was over produced) and pay under 10 each

for systems almost any system for $10 is good.

Smart Phone + VGPC.com and/or eBay app.

I've gotten to the point where I don't buy anything at a Flea Market (or anywhere else, for that matter) without doing a quick search first. Heck, I just saw 'Kung Fu Rider' brand new at Target for $10. Was going to buy it for laughs, but checked online instead, and found I could get it from Amazon for $6.

My best advice would be to go there and have fun. Look for something you actually want at a good price and worry less about what might be valuable. Enjoy the hunt and do not expect to come away with a profit (because you probably won't), that way if you do, then it's all added value to a fun day.

The main reason why I am going to the flea market is to probably buy things that I could resell, if anything. I primarily collect for the MVS so I doubt there would be any there at the market :(.

this might sound silly, but I tend to grab anything I can find at yard sales etc that's priced at under $1. Honestly, it pays off for me more often than it fucks me.

I agree that the hunt is most of the fun, finding a gem before anyone else is a sweet feeling but buying something for more than its worth is a pretty crappy feeling so it doesn't hurt to look up values

The flea market in my area kind of sucks. So when I go, I'm excited when I find anything worthwhile. It doesn't happen often. But when it does, it's usually a good deal. I bought a Sega-brand arcade joystick for the Sega Genesis for $5 at the flea market. I didn't have a clue when I bought it, but when I got home I looked it up on eBay just out of curiosity to see if I got a good price, and it was going for like $40.

Most of the time when I go to the flea market I usually just end up leaving with a short stack of $1 comic books, and a handful of 50-cent cassette tapes, except for those few lucky times like above.
