Loving this news! Especially for the Silent Hill remakes. Kind of sad they're not adding any of the original psx titles with the HD boost :(.

Also I somehow completely missed the sly collection being released, didn't even know about it until this thread. Might have to go snatch that up today!
What other HD collections have been announced? I know Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Any others?

Prince of Persia Trilogy (the PS2 gen ones), except... I'm pretty sure they were released DL only and each separately. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

The HD ports thing I think get a little out of hand at times, but as long as they're packing multiple games into collections I'm down for this trend.

It's kind of weird for them to only do Silent Hill 2-3 though and not 4. I know I've heard 4 was kind of lukewarm to fans or something, but yeah.

Update: Konami is using the Subsistence version of Snake Eater and "Anubis Special Edition" of Zone of the Enders for these collections, which add extra content not present in the initial release of the two games. Additionally, Peace Walker HD is the only game in the Metal Gear Solid collection running at 1080p resolution while Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater only go to 720p.

The Japanese release of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection also includes vouchers to download Peace Walker PSP and the PlayStation version of the first Metal Gear Solid from the PlayStation Network Store. Hopefully these bonuses will be offered in other regions.

Good news on MGS3: Subsistence, but no MGS2: Substance? I guess it's not that big of a deal but Substance had some pretty cool bonus content.

Well, that's a relief. :) But they still haven't clarified if it's the original 2-disc version, or the newer 1-disc version of Subsistence. And I would have liked Substance, too, but it's far less important to me that I get Substance than that I get Subsistence. Substance>SOL, Subsistence>>>>Snake Eater.

That's kind of stinky. Were the VR missions on the original MGS2? I spent way too many hours playing those... haha.

I hope that second part is true for the US!

@BoringSupreez
I would imagine it'll just be Disc 1. Disc 2 was just MGO and some bonus content if I recall. The bonus content was awesome though (Metal Gear 1+2), it would be good of them to at least include that.

@Xeogred
The VR missions were just in Substance, that's why I was kind of bummed too. The VR missions in both MGS1 and MGS2 were too much fun. I loved how the VR missions in MGS1 have the throwbacks to Metal Gear 2 songs (even though the first time I played them I didn't even know).

It's amazing isn't it? The relevance of the PS2. Is it the greatest console ever? It was pumping out titles even with "next gen" gaming consoles in full swing. Now, all of its classics are being re-released with a fresh new coat of paint

It'll be funny if all of these re-releases get more people into the PS3. PS 2 coming along to help out PS 3's sorry ass. "Get your act together PS 3 or old grandpa PS 2 will give you a whipping"

Damn that is a real low blow to me, that was practically an entire new huge game in itself. Had so much fun with it and all the characters.

Oh well though, lol. I'm still most excited about this for Peace Walker! Definitely the first one I'm hitting up since I haven't played it.

How would you MGS vets rank Peace Walker anyways? I played the demo and have heard a friend talk a ton about it and it sounds like unlike MGS4, it delivers tons of gameplay, and I think my friend even jokingly compared it to Monster Hunter / Pokemon or something with you building up an army and collecting a bunch of things or something. I definitely won't be surprised if I like it more than MGS4 myself.

@Gamerforlife: It is going to be sad that half of my PS3 collection will probably be made up of these PS2 HD collections. :lol:
