I will say that the regenerating health in this game at least has some basis behind it; Duke is powered by pure ego. But I was annoyed by the boss battle with the gunship. Instead of it being something where I can run around and dodge, like against the last boss of DN3D, the ship always hits me. So now it's jump out, fire two shots, jump back in.

The two weapon thing also annoyed me. But it was tempered by the fact that they kept throwing different weapons at me. If they do that through the game it won't be as bad, since I can keep varying how I'm destroying dudes.

A good way to look at the health regenerating thing.

The two weapons thing really does boil my piss though. This is old school Duke here, come on! Give us that our infinite pockets back! But seriously, I really hope HL3 (if it ever comes out... uh next Duke Nukem Forever anyone?) ... will still carry on the classic tradition of being able to hold all guns at once. Halo really funked this up and I'm tired of every FPS going the 2-3 gun route these past two gens.

I think that's what they were really going for. The health bar is called "ego".

Finally a regenerating health system that makes sense in the context of the game.

And when he drinks beer it's harder to drop his ego.

The two weapons thing is almost a game breaker for me. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to do that other than to try to throw Duke in the Halo mold.

I think the official statement on the Gearbox forums (and this is hearsay from Gamefaqs) is that it's due to controllers not being ideal for quickly switching between 10 weapons.

I saw the official statement, it's a total joke. "It's not 1996"

I can see cutting down 10 weapons at a time, but restricting you to 2 is bullshit. Cycling between 4 or 5 weapons would be fine. Why not come up with a unique solution all together, like the Resistance games?

That's the exact wrong reason to give for a game like this, where the whole reason we want it is because we liked 1996.
