Game Gear Issues

Post by o.pwuaioc »

I recently bought a Game Gear, but it seems to be having a few issues. I put brand new batteries in it, but both times now I turned it on to play (once yesterday, once today) it would turn off after only being on for a second. The only way to keep it playing is to turn if off and on for about 10 times or so. Having just tried to turn it on now (been about 2 hours since I turned it on last), I only had to turn if off and back on once for it to stay on. Does this spell death to this Game Gear? Should I return it? There's also some faded bars running down the left side of screen, but that doesn't affect it too much, I could live with that. What do you think?

if the person who sold it to you claim it's in "good" working condition. yes, return it. it seems like your game gear console days are numbered. but i know someone here can probably help you fix your issue... if you don't want to go that route, then just return it. i hope you didn't pay too much for it.

$20 including shipping. How much would I be looking at paying to fix it/get it fixed?

turn the brightness/contrast (whatever that dial is) all the way down, allow the unit to power up for a few moments, then you can raise the level back up so you can see the screen properly. Works for me on my failing capacitor GG
