I went to my first craigslist seller tonight (i've been collecting for a while but only ramped up recently) - guy had towers of boxes filled with games from every system up to the most recent generation. He at one time had every SMS game (only had the system - no cords or controllers, for $10 - I passed for now) , tons of intellivision, collecovision games (complete) and bins of loose NES games.

He's been selling for about a year now and his prices were pretty comparable to online - not a lot for deals but I grabbed:

Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages GBC - Box/Game (no manual) for $7

Other than that - grabbed two GBA games CIB (Donkey Kong vs Mario and FF I & II for $10 each), a couple game genies (NES, Genesis) for $4 each. Also - two Saturn games - $5 each complete - Fighting Vipers and Fighters Megamix.

He may have had every sports game EVER - and that's right up my alley, but i passed on digging through in the heat (no AC for this guy) for hours.

Came home with this little lot today.

The reason this is cool is because of the Ranma PC Engine game at the top right. I paid 15 bucks for it, which is typical. What makes it cool is that I bought it locally at an awesome store over in Boulder. :D No shipping from Japan, heh.

Might not seem much, but for me it was a great find. I'm pleased.

Hit up a local thrift store today:

Image

Turtles in Time - $2
Zombies ate my Neighbors - $2
Tengen Tetris CIB - $20

I'm a little disappointed they knew to mark up Tetris, but I'm still happy as that's considerably less than its worth.

I was just saying "no way, no way" when I saw that tengen tetris and thrift store in the same space. $20 is reasonable but if you'd gotten it for $2-5? Amazing deal.

Haha, the best part is that it had a sticky note reading $20 stuck over the original price tag: $150 FIRM. Who knows how long it had been sitting in the back of their display case...

Wow, nice. I had a chance at this game at a swap meet but I didn't jump on it. Only found out why it was special once it was too late as the guy threw it up on eBay that week.

Wow, Japanese pc engine games? I'm stunned to even see TG16 games let alone japanese ones.

This is all from a local pawn shop which is rapidly becoming a daily visit in addition to my thrift store. I have been making nearly weekly visits for sometime and have only left empty handed once that I can remember. There is only one other pawn shop that has anything older than PS2, and their prices are too well researched for my tastes ($50 for PS1 Lunar, for instance). But this store, while their stuff is not always is superb condition, their prices are unbeatable, and I don't have to get them to unlock a glass cases to look through their stuff.

Image

N64 game - $1.00
Quake

SNES games - $1.00 each
Super Smash TV (with a pooch of a bar code covering their entire label. Damn.)
F-Zero
The Incredible Hulk
Clayfighter: Tournament Edition
Earth Defense Force
Outlander
Cybernator
Darius Twin
Power Rangers ZEO Battle Racers
Uncharted Waters: New Horizons
Final Fantasy II

and LogiTech netplay keyboard controller for PS2 that they gave me for free. They have a couple milk crates of crappy 3rd party controllers, I think they were thrilled to get rid of this bulky one.

Usually their prices are $2.50 for games, but the dude sold me these for $1 each. Not sure why, because I wan't going to argue, perhaps because he likes that I come in and give him money every week. A nice added value of hitting these places so often.
