I realize it's easy to pick straws and nit-pick both performers' different attributes, but I can't help but wonder if Hogan was ever looked down upon by wrestling fans upon during his peak.. Clearly, there was never a 'Let's go Hogan/Hogan SUCKS' chant in the arenas then. Maybe it was just a different time for wrestling and the babyface character..
It was a different time for wrestling and babyfaces. If Hulk Hogan had never existed before and was around right now with the same push and gimmick he would be received the same as Cena, maybe even more negative. Could you imagine the internet reaction if he no sold someone's finisher and "hulked up"? The thing is Cena is very poplular with younger fans. There is a reason why they come out with a new shirt for him every couple of months, the things sell. It's the older fans who don't want to root for the traditional baby face that don't like him, but that's the way the WWE is booking him because it's still making them money. If he really wasn't as over as everyone on the internet likes to claim the WWE wouldn't just keep him at the top of ladder just because. I don't really care for Cena that much, but overall he's the best of a bad bunch. There is a reason why they brought back the Rock and use Stone Cold as much as they can, why the last video game released focused on retired wrestlers, why HHH/Undertaker was the best match at Wrestlemania(and even that was just a spot fest). The current product overall is lacking.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'm watching the 2011 Hall of Fame ceremony on blueray and I am amazed by how long its running time is. They really only give you a fraction of it on tv. Some nice appearances by the Road Dog and Terry Funk. Sunny surprised me by taking a bit of a shot at Drew Carey. She really needs to be on tv again. She has such a strong presence and she's still hot. She should be managing someone and I think the divas could learn a lot from this woman about having PER SON AL I TY
Random thoughts
If I'm a WWE wrestler I'd be begging to be put in a tag team with John Morrison so I can become a future top heel main eventer.
Good promo Karma, too bad you'll be in the doghouse for dissing JR.
Anyone else view the Bellas as a poor man's Leycool?
R Truth is right. There is a conspiracy. Hence the technical difficulties during his awesome opening segment and the fact that they won't give him theme music.
Congrats to Alex Riley, he's been made. Should be sending Cole and Miz a thank you card.
Hey Sin Cara, pick a finisher already....and try not to botch it

I was thinking she'd be in the doghouse for using the word "wrestling" in her promo... twice! I thought Vince banned that word from TV, along with "wrestler", "belt", and "strap".Good promo Karma, too bad you'll be in the doghouse for dissing JR.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just skimmed through this, good times. I specifically remember that episode for sure. I wonder if the one where Nash betrayed the Wolfpac handing the belt over to Hogan is up on youtube? I'll never forget that episode, I had that one taped... Scott Hall even came out acting like he was part of the Wolfpac and it was all a hoax in the end, haha. I liked it because I was always rooting for the heels back in the day a lot, so I loved the original NWO at the time.BurningDoom wrote:(01.13.1997) Pt. 1 WCW Nitro Live from New Orleans, LA

The real "doghouse" for a superstar is not being used. It's poor timing career wise because she had not yet established much history within WWE, but surely she won't be in trouble for getting knocked up. That would be terrible PR for a PG "family friendly" show, if they completely wrote her off because of her pregnancy. Barring unusual circumstances, Kharma will be back, she's money.

There are always exceptions. This is pro-wrestling -- it's hard to tell the crap from the fact.Bikeage wrote:The real "doghouse" for a superstar is not being used.
C.M. Punk being a more recent case of doghouse-envy.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I wasn't serious about Karma being in the doghouse. However, given that JR is respected by everyone in WWE management and is given babyface pops when he's on tv, it seemed kind of stupid for Karma to diss him in her promo the way she did
They could do so much with Karma when she comes back. She could slaughter all the divas and then feud with some guys like Chyna did back in the day. WWE probably wouldn't do that though as they are so afraid to do anything edgy anymore like having one of their divas start wreaking havoc on some of the men. I'd wouldn't mind seeing some jobbers like Chavo and Evan Bourne get demolished by Karma. I honestly would love to see some inter-gender stuff in pro wrestling. They could do that with people like Beth Phoenix or Karma. WWE gives us lip service all the time about how powerful the divas are. Prove it I say. If none of them can hang with the men then they are NOT powerful

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Christian was pretty awesome with that promo to start Smackdown. He's a good heel and with more promos like that he can definitely be a main event guy, or at least one of the guys you can trust to occasionally throw the main event ball too
I liked seeing Vince in the ring with R Truth on Raw. Not only does it give him a good rub to be in the ring with guys like Vince, Austin, Cena and Miz, but I think it's good for Vince to see in person how Truth does in front of a live Raw audience and in the company of other main eventers. Should give him more confidence in pushing the guy
I like this AJ chick on Smackdown. She's a self proclaimed nerd who loves video games, comic books and action movies. I think some of us on here can appreciate that. Her "Leycool called, they want their gimmick back" line on Smackdown was funny, though it would have been more appropriate if someone could have said that to the Bella twins. They could have had fun with her and Karma if she was still around. David versus Goliath right there. A few squash matches could have gotten AJ some sympathy from the crowd and made Karma into more of a monster. Perfect way to setup Beth Phoenix or Gail Kim to come in and help out little AJ too
Booker T! In the ring! I want more of this!
I'm a bit behind on TNA, but I thought it was funny last week for Angle to chew out Jarett for hurting the "mother of his children" yet showing no concern for her at all. Made him look a dick. Is Angelina Love and Winter the creepiest diva or knockout angle ever?
