Make and model number of the HD or monitor you are using?

It's a MAG 900W.

This One? http://www.amazon.com/MAG-Innovision-GM ... B003WU5Q40

Its a widescreen monitor. Should work, but a chance it may not support the 4:3 640x480 resolution. Check your monitor manual in the specs chart, see if that resolution is listed.

It should have worked, because I took it downstairs to an HDTV that I did have the specs for, and that does display 640x480 60Hz. The LED, as I said before, kind of fades do black within 2 seconds of power-on. Also, rechecked the normal A/V cables, and they work fine even though the LED is dying.

Got a response from racketboy, asking to ship it back, something I don't want to pay to do, but I suppose I should.

Just used the Dreamcast VGA cable for the first time this weekend. I have it hooked up to an Optoma hd71 720p projector and it looks great! I compared using the native resolution and a 16:9 and I enjoyed using the larger 16:9 picture - it didn't seem distorted to me, though I think technically it is. (I was playing Grandia II and Ikaruga). Just want to say thanks to racketboy for having the cable in their store.

I also ordered 24 universal game cases and 2 nintendo s-video cables and the total was $105. The shipping was pretty expensive relative to the products. Looking at the store now, it's $20 for the cable and $5 for shipping.

Sorry for being late, but have you tested it with a computer?
Depending on your operating system, you can use the TV as a desktop extension; just change the resolution of the extension to 640x480 (if you do this to your actual desktop, your icons will get jumbled).

It might just be the plug between the VGA box and the DC being less than snug.

I recently purchased the Dreamcast VGA box from racketboy, and I'm pleased. Obviously, I wasn't impressed with it when I tried both Marvel vs Capcom games and KOF 2000 (NTSC-J), but things improved when I tried Sonic Adventure. However, I was blown away by both Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue II. I'd say most 3D games are meant to be played with a VGA signal.

However, I did notice one minor issue, and I was curious if other people have noticed this problem, or know why it happens. Using the VGA box with a 3.5mm stereo male-to-male audio cable, I experience audio issues with both MvC NTSC games. The music plays just fine, but the sound effects will sometimes not play or play at a low volume, and it seems totally random when this happens. Every other game I've tried doesn't exhibit this issue, so I don't think it's the cable or TV.

This doesn't bother me, but I'm curious as to why it happens. My VGA Dreamcast will be hooked up to my Sony Bravia 1080p LCD HDTV, and I'll be hooking a second one to my 20" RCA TruFlat CRT SDTV through S-Video for 2D fighters, so I won't be playing MvC with VGA (I can't stand how the sprites look in higher-resolution screens, even on HD CRT sets. Horrible).
