I really liked Toradora. It really felt natural how they grew attracted to each other. Plus, Taiga is just awesome.
I agree on the attraction part. I felt horrible about what happened with Minori though. D: To be honest, I prefer both Minori and Ami over Taiga.

Ha, it's a small world. I purchased Toradora just yesterday.
Good time to get it because the special editions are going out of print. I got it when it was first released here last year after watching a few episodes online. Didn't get around to watching it all until the past few weeks.
Just a note, I'm not sure if they fixed the ghosting issue in the retail copies of the first half of the series. The batch that I got had severe ghosting. So much so that me and a few others complained on NIS America's forum/through e-mails, and they ended up remastering the discs and sending out free replacements. Sucks that the issue was ever there, but they handled it well.

I'm not sure what version I got honestly. It's being imported from Malaysia if that gives any clue. Also, what is ghosting?
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.
That is one of the official releases. The regular editions are being released soon so the premium version of the first half of the series is now becoming hard to come by.
Here are both of my premium editions (Region 1):
I also buy Japanese BDs sometimes, but that release you got is also not an official Japanese release. Importing DVD/BD from Japan is an expensive hobby. Especially anime
That is rather annoying. I suppose it won't be a problem as long as it's in a well constructed box and has all the correct content. But still, it's sort of less appealing to my collector attitude. Oh well, I bought a different anime that was also imported from Malaysia and therefor quite possibly also bootleg yet it's a perfectly fine package.

I would suggest http://www.fandompost.com/ for anime info. It is run by the guy behind AnimeOnDVD. I'm not sure if they've posted all the info on the new forums yet, but the old forums have info on all official releases. It's very helpful as far as knowing what series have been licensed/released in the US and which Japanese releases contain English subtitles or sometimes even English dubs.
http://www.rightstuf.com/ is about as good as it gets if you are looking for North American releases. And I use Amazon Japan and HMV Japan for Japanese releases.
You would need a region free DVD player if you wish to play Japanese DVDs. And Japan happens to be in the same region as North America for Blu Ray, so you can import anything with no issues. Assuming you live in the US.

Thank you! I used to love animeondvd and watched a lot of shows based on their recommendations. I will definitely check out fandompost.com

AppleQueso wrote:Aren't most anime BDs just upscales?
Most TV anime on BD from the past few years will be upscaled from 720p. Most TV anime on BD from the earlier 2000's will be upscaled from 480. A lot of films and OVAs are 1080 native. Cel animated stuff can be remastered in HD and look amazing. I can't even begin to tell you how great Akira, Jin-Roh, Patlabor: The Movie, The Wings on Honneamise, Nausicaa, Castle in the Sky, etc.. look on Blu Ray.
However, the upscales, if done correctly, will be better than their DVD counterparts. Better colors. No compression artifacts. Lossless audio.
