Sorry if this post is in the wrong thread, but I feel this is general gamingy enough.
There's this guy on Youtube who does really fantastic renditions of retro game music. He does it all himself and plays each part together. So he does the guitar, bass, and drums and edits it together. From what I heard he sounds really good.
Here's a link of him doing a guitar duet (with himself) of Aeris' theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A40KStfF ... re=related
Some other notable songs from games he does are themes from Megaman, Tetris, Zelda, Castlevania, Sonic, of course Final Fantasy, and even some TMNT stuff it looks like. So make sure to check out his other songs!
Anyways I just thought I'd mention this on here because I thought it was cool and figured some of you might enjoy it as well.

Oh, I'm guessing other people have posted stuff like this before? That makes sense, oh well. There weren't any when I posted it.

We've done the topic a few times, but that's ok. Here's a few of note:
Heather's Ocarina performing Zelda's Lullaby on an actual ocarina
Greg Pattillo performing the Mario Theme by beatboxing on a flute
Vomitron does a metal cover of the Contra main theme

Also, if you like Final Fantasy music, then you should know that the composer of those songs, Nobuo Uematsu, takes his Final Fantasy productions on the road with his band The Black Mages:
Here is an epic performance of them doing "One Winged Angel"

Lotus jams on the Zelda theme often. Here's a good recording. Listen to the entire "Travel -> Tip of the Tongue -> Zelda -> Tip of the Tongue" for the best experience.

This guy does awesome metal covers of retro songs, this one is especially good:
as is this one:
This guy plays a mean guitar rendition of Monty on the Run's theme too:
and here's the C64 orchestra playing the same song:
Here's an awesomely chilled out version of Chill man's theme from MM10 which I'm a big fan of:
Here's something a bit different - an awesome marimba cover of Gerudo Valley:
Just a small sample of the awesome stuff I've found
