It really boiled my piss how X5/X6 were pure budget titles, they came out $20-30 new from what I remember. You could tell instantly with the lack of cutscenes as compared to X4 that they really cut back on it a lot. Still decent games gameplay wise, but yeah, it really went downhill after X4.

Honestly if you haven't even heard of this obscure anime OVA, there's one based around the X series called Irregular Hunter X - The Day of Sigma. It was honestly pretty damn cool and made me wish they made a full series based off Mega Man X or something. Definitely check it out.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

I swear I think about that game for at least a second each day, even when I'm not playing it. I think it's just so well done.

Shadow of the Colossus as well, that was pretty powerful and raised some questions at it's ending.

I really can't think of too many at the moment (besides the obvious FFVII and nearly any RPG)...hmm.

Here's the interesting thing, Keiji thought about coming back to the X series to do Mega Man X9, but he chose to do a remake of the first game instead called Mega Man Maverick Hunter X for the PSP. Day of Sigma was actually part of Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Keiji was actually kind of re-writing the X storyline starting with that game, but it didn't sell well unfortunately. He was basically going to remake the whole SNES trilogy as well as remake the original Mega Man games starting with Mega Man Powered Up, which also didn't sell well. So basically, no more Mega Man or Mega Man X remakes :(

They were good games too. I played through Maverick Hunter X two times with X and two times with Vile(one hard mode playthrough for each character) and loved it. I also played a demo for Mega Man Powered Up and I enjoyed that too

I couldn't get into Maverick Hunter X. I really hated the art style and the gameplay felt off. I've never played it for more than 30 minutes at a clip. Is it worth playing just to play as Vile?

Also I agree with what you guys are saying about the MMX1-4 plot. It had potential, but it was crushed. I think X5 was pretty bad in all aspects (but I still enjoyed it). X6 at least had some decent level design and gameplay going for it.

Well Vile plays very differently for one thing. He has three spots on his body for guns and you get a variety of different guns to put in each slot as you go through the game. This makes him a lot more strategic to play as. If my memory is correct, I think he is also slower and has no dash. Also, the levels are completely redesigned for him. Plus, he has one or two exclusive cutscens as I recall. So really, he gets a proper story mode. I think he has a new game plus too

Actually, I don't think it's much of a spoiler to tell you this. You fight BOTH X and Zero AT THE SAME TIME at the end of his story mode. Those bitches were hard to take down, but it's pretty epic

The Metal Gear Solid games, especially Sons of Liberty, and Deus Ex. Compared to other games, they're pretty deep. Of course, they're nothing when compared to books, but it's neat to see a game make an attempt at pondering life's questions.

Of course! Metal Gear Solid! I recently had the chance to play 4 on the PS3 and I have to say the battle between Metal Gear Rex and Ray and the final battle are pretty awesome/nostalgic. I think I still like original though. I feel like it had more soul.

I still think about and talk about certain games every day of my life. Morrowind, Oblivion, Donkey Kong Country, Resident Evil 4.
