The fights were honestly what bugged me the most. It reminded me of my forum-rp stint where you'd have two new people fighting going "I attack you with my ultimate move and kill you!" "No you didn't, I dodged and used my ultimate move!" back and forth, nobody ever deciding to be fatigued or injured until one person gets bored and lets their character get injured/die to end the fight, and then they'll try to fully restore their character through shenanigans.Xeogred wrote:I agree on that about Death Note, though I like the ending. I was a Light fan and found it pretty fitting, heh.AmishSamurai wrote:The second half of Death Note was terrible. Mello and Near were grating characters. I prefer to believe it truly ended on Ladies Night.
Also, finished Nadesico last night, and decided to finally drop Noein, as it wasn't doing anything for me. Kemonozume time.
Noein I enjoyed but it really was awkwardly slice of life for like over half the series, really weird. I didn't really like the art either, but it did have some pretty slick fights out of the few that popped up.

I guess it's not a huge deal since I've moved on to subs and all, but yeah. Just "had to be there" back in the Bebop/Trigun days I guess when AS/Toonami were awesome.

Unless you speak fluent japanese, I wouldn't judge ANY anime based on its dialog, considering the specifics of what you read and hear are almost entirely at the whim of the translator.MrEco wrote:I think I should point out something. I seem to be using a different definition for "writing" than you guys. When I say writing I'm talking about the dialog and nothing else. The plot and stuff I judge completely separately.

I watched two episodes of Slayers Revolution subtitled on youtube from funimation and was annoyed to find out there were no others. I guess that's the tease to get you to buy the DVD/Bluerays for the rest of the episodes.
It was classic Slayers all the way. Angry, egotistical Lina causing havoc and mayhem, charming and dumb Gourry doing amazing things that only he can, Zelgadis being cool and smart, people making "flat chest" comments at Lina's expense and lots of Dragon Slave spells.

Yeah, I got to catch a few Slayers Revolution episodes at AWA last year, and it was awesome. It's about the anime equivalent of playing a modern-day retro game - new, but it takes you back.
At Animazement, I got to see The Legend of Koizumi. Incredible. Only three episodes, but they are all on YouTube.

Not typically really big into anime, but I just started Initial D with my wife a few weeks ago, and yeah, we breezed through that already, it was great.
I saw a little of Wangan Midnight and that looks great. Does anyone know if there was a ever a retail release of this in the US?

I really liked Toradora. It really felt natural how they grew attracted to each other. Plus, Taiga is just awesome.ZenErik wrote:Just finished Toradora! this morning. Solid series. <3Minorin.

Ha, it's a small world. I purchased Toradora just yesterday.ZenErik wrote:Just finished Toradora! this morning. Solid series. <3Minorin.
I'm almost finished with Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka. I started it quite a while back but it's been slow because I haven't gotten a lot of time to watch anime and to be honest Akane keeps getting steadily worse with every episode.
As soon as I'm done with that I'm starting Hanbun No Tsuki Ga Noboru Sora. It's suppose to be a really good 6 episode long OVA. Hopefully it doesn't have some super depressing ending though, because it's all about a boy with hepatitis A and a girl who's been stuck in the hospital almost her entire life because of a genetic deficiency.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.
