Just found this on craigslist for $30 :D

Also picked this up at the local Game X Change. The box is a little beat up but it's complete and for $40 I couldn't say no.

Unfortunately the novelty of the controller wears off quickly leaving behind a very clumsy mech sim. I may have to download the pc drivers and try some MechWarrior 4 with it.

Well, just got back from my yearly trip 2 1/2 hours north to Eugene Oregon. I usually head up there for recycling stuff like electronics, Styrofoam, and other items but while I'm up there I hit up all the good game spots. This year I found some pretty sweet pieces and saw some games I'm not sure i'll ever going to see again!

Anyways, first store is the CD-Game Exchange. Had a bunch of old CDs to trade in for credit to off set the cost of the games but here's my finds:

Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions - $5
Ehrgeiz - $15 (has the manual cover but no manual) took me years to finally get this.
Street Fighter Alpha Anthology - $10
Heavy Nova - $2.50 (I bought this on a whim, don't even know what its about yet)
Blazin Saga Mutant Fighter - $2.50 (also bought on a whim, dunno if its good)

They had a Contra III (SNES) but it was about $20 and I didn't know going rate off the top of my head. Also more complete copies of FF7 than I've ever seen on one spot. I think there had to be at least 7?

------------

Next stop was Big City Gamin'. This store usually gets some rarer stuff but tends to price everything way too high. This time around they had some amazing rare stuff but priced way out of my budget! I didn't nab anything but had the pleasure of seeing Bubble Bobble Part 2, CIB secret of Mana with strat guide and plenty more fancy games.

But OH EM GEE mechblue why didn't you buy those games? Well $133 for Bubble Bobble Part 2 and $80 for secret of Mana was a bit too much for me. I do think I should have bought the Illusion of Gaia CIB for $17 though.. :?

------------

Moved on to recycle my electronics and see what the now massively over priced used electronics store had to offer. Everything was priced well beyond market value but managed to rescue Shenmue for the dreamcast for $5. It was all the discs but with no case. Not much of a deal but want to get it to a good home.

------------

Hit up the St. Vincent De Paul to recycle my Styrofoam and they had a few ok games nothing mind blowing, mainly pricing was really random, kept me from buying other stuff. I did enjoy seeing a HK bootleg of Star Gate SG-1 season 9.

Picked up:
Super Hang-On (CIB) - $2.99 (Doesn't seem to show up in my area at all)
Hard Driving (CIB) - $2.99
Plus some random music CDs

------------

Goodwill was right next door so I wandered over and snagged some decent items:

Memory Card Plus - $4
CleanerMate Console cleaner - $4 (Amusing to see it cleans the Sega "Mega Driver" "Mega Driver 2" and the good ol "Genesie". This is all printed on the label.. )
Sony PS2 Memory card - $2
Castle of Illusion (Game Gear) - $4
Pair of Guncon2 - $10 but because it was half off the colored sticker the pair cost me a whole $5!
Playstation AV Adapter SCPH-1160 - $3 (I really don't know what this cable is, never seen it before but reading on my phone a site said something about the Guncon needing it?)
Canyon Bomber - $2

I did notice a complete copy of Ninja Assault with Guncons. Although some one at goodwill was smokin crack and priced it at $60. I'd never even heard of this game till I saw it at that store. I'm guessing it sucked or came out really late in the PS2's life.

------------

While I was in the area I hit up the local CL for any deals. Spotted a broken dreamcast (controller ports died - easy fix), small stack of games, four controllers, two memory cards, and a rumble pack for $40 obo. Offered $30 and picked it up on my way out of town. Games included:
NBA Showtime
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Capcom vs. SNK (made the purchase worth it)
Frogger 2
Elemental Gimmick Gear (EGG)
Evolution - The world of Sacred Device
Tokyo Extreme Racer

All games are complete with cases and manuals.

------------

Before making it back home I stopped in Grants Pass at two game shops I don't make it out to often. City is about 30-40 mins away. Decided to stop by and see what uber rare titles were on their shelves (why do stores so close to the boonies always get the amazingly rare titles?)

Saw a few Shin Megumi tensei titles I'd never even known about (priced as you would expect them to be) but I did come across the following for very reasonable prices:

Zombies at My Neighbors - $5 (cart)
Trouble Shooter - $2
Ninja Assault - $5 (complete)
Guilty Gear Isuka - $5 (complete)
The King of Fighters - NeoWave - $5 (complete)
Samurai Showdown V - $5 (complete)
Mobile Light Force 2 - $5 (complete)
Gitarooman - $10 (complete)

Had my hands on Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the xbox but couldn't bring my self to spend the $20. The re-release on XBL and the latest sequel seem to have devistated the value of this game. I remember only a year ago it was 60-80 on eBay. Now it barely hits $30 on a good day in Xbox form. Happy I sold my PS2 copy when I did!

Anyways, those are my finds for today. I feel tapped out and the weekend hunting hasn't even begun! :o

I'll try and post a few pics when I get a bit of rest. For now I'm sure you all can use your imaginations. I do apologize if these aren't really "epic deals / finds" but it felt like a pretty great day crossing off a bit on my want list. :D

Oh, at a pawn shop in eugene/springfield I managed to snag a Gameboy camera for $3. I've been searching for one of those damn things forever! A Gameboy collection isn't complete with out one! Banana Yellow one, just in time for the GB printer thats coming from a trade.

Playstation AV Adapter SCPH-1160
It allows you to daisy chain another AV mutlicable for the Playstation when using a Guncon, without it you can only use composite, but with you can daisy chain off a component or svideo cable to get the best picture quality when playing your guncon games.

Oh sweet, thanks for the info. Sounds like it was worth the $3 price tag.

First off apologies for a side track post on this Thread, but I have to respond.

CRTGAMER wrote:How about the uniqueness of the game? Isn't that also important and sharing to others? I'll quit posting my reviews if that is what everyone wants. A few other members have made purchases based on my finds with reviews on this thread.
Unless it were a signed copy or some ridiculous edition of 100, I'd say Madden is about the worst example of a 'unique game' since it's football every year and sells millions of copies. I'm just saying that there's a reviews section and there's also a 'lookit my collection' section where that would be more appropriate. A lot of the same information is being reposted several times, which clutters up the forum and I would say it technically against the rules. Yes, they aren't questions, but it still applies IMHO.
Do not cross-post questions - Posting a thread in more than one forum is annoying and thus not allowed. Just post it once in the correct place.
If someone wants to find a review of these games later, having them in finds is bad anyway. One would want to go to the reviews section and find a topic for the game, not use the search (which kinda sucks) or look through this now 7200+ post thread. If someone wants to see all of someone games or all recent purchases, rare or not, a 'My Awesome Stuff' thread is better than looking for posts by one person in a 7200+ post thread. Again, I'm not saying don't post the stuff you're proud to have acquired. Just post stuff in the appropriate place and try to not repeat unnecessarily. I say that as someone who repeats stuff a lot too. Leave the main feedback thread with short manageable posts so that whomever is trying to add up isn't faced with walls of text so that someone doesn't get a + or - they deserve because they missed it.
Had coffee thought about this
Hobie, I always respect what you post, you offer constructive positive reads. I can see where my multiple posts over the same subject is a pain. A good point, I'll try not to do that. In my enthusiasm of thanking a seller, it sometimes drifts that way. I would still like giving a seller credit with a thank you link and bump of their sale thread though. A courteous thing to do for a good seller. You are right, make an easier to tally the Feedback Score without dwelling thru excess text. I will post the "+1 Seller Name" and keep the text to a minimum in the Transaction Feedback Thread.

One man's trash is another man's treasure
Madden 2005 Collectors Edition is actually a perfect example. A release every year, which one to get? First let me state that I never cared for Sports games. I feel a redundant annual release of a game was a waste of store shelf space. Also disheartened that of all the possible new PS2 games, Madden 2012 might be the last new PS2 game. Maybe there is a reason this game is still around since it debuted on the Apple II+?

15 Year Anniversary Release only on the PS2
I was pleasantly surprised by all the extra features that Madden 2005 Collectors Edition offered, a history romp back to the early days of Video Gaming. Seeing the video of One on One Dr J Larry Bird smashing the backboard brought back memories when I first played that game on the C64. A truly WTF moment, I didn't know I could do that!

I post a game only after a thorough play
I don't just post a list of games with no pics, no purchased location and most importantly no review of why a game is special. Nor will I just post just a rare game because of a monetary value. For me the value of any game is the uniqueness, something that draws me in. I also post links to help other curious readers get more info. The links are clear where they lead to and one does not have to click the link.
CRTGAMER wrote:I love Video Games best when playing them, followed closely by sharing them for others to discover. This is the best aspect of Video Game Finds, a chance that others may discover playing a game unknown and not just the monetary valued ones.
Any contribution is a plus on this board, there is no reason to chop my legs. If one does not like a member's post simply scroll past it. Or set your Preferences to ignore an individual's posts.

Again apologies for the derail, hope this answers why I post the MY interpretation of a "Find". Next week I'm back to that computer booth at the Swap Meet. Maybe I'll discover and post more "accepted" Video Game Finds. :?
