PSP vs. DSLite

Hi, i have a pspslim and i used to have a dslite, but im curious, im starting to regret my decision somewhat, can somebody tell me some good psp games before i buy another ds as i hate to buy a console, sell it, then buy it again. Note i would like them to be cheap, hows killzone, any fun shmups, right now i barely have any games, i just recently moved on from my gamegear to the DS last year but then sold it for the PSPslim. I have, MoH: Heroes, Crazy Taxi, TDU, Socom, Wipeout Pure, and mabe another one somewhere in my room. PLZ HELP!!!

killzone is great! and the multiplayer is algo great, online or with a few friends. This topic will probably start an overheated debate but IMO stick with both consoles.

well, if you like sports games world tour soccer 06 is a unique arcade style soccer game where you rack up points and stuff.

sega rally revo is fun, and there are 2 vitua tennis games, virtua tennis world tour is a update of the dreamcast version, and virtua tennis 3 is great.

if you can fork some cash, the God of War for PSP is supposed to be SICK!

check out psp.ign.com for psp reviews, thats where i go, and go to amazon.com for better prices than gamestop.

i dont trust reviews but i do like overviews with screenshots. I dont like sports games but Sega Rally might just be the fix i need. I really want an old school style though. Mabe ill buy a DS get a couple games but keep the PSP. Really the only DS game i miss is Dawn of Sarrow. If Dracula X Chronicals is anything like that i will stay happily a Sony fanboy.

ok these are the games i want on each, the bolded ones on the psp list are the ones that could save me spending my money on a DS again but i want feedback on them

get the psp. perfect GBA emulation. great homebrew. totally worth it over the ds, which feels gimmicky to me.

We probably have different taste in games b/c not many of those games are in my collection, but I can speak regarding a few of them, and give you my general opinion of both systems.

On the PSP:

MGS: PO is one of my favorites and I'm not even a huge MGS fan. I'm a micro-management guy so I enjoy all of the customization of the army and individual units. For me it never gets old recruiting new soldiers and outfitting them. The multiplayer is great too. For a purer action fest you can always go with the Syphon Filter games (or Killzone as you've listed).

Final Fantasy Tactics is of course awesome. I'm assuming you've played it on the PS1 or at least know a fair deal about it. There's also Disgaea, which in some ways I prefer to FFT. I also really like the Generation of Chaos games (even the first one with the "slow down.")

Some other games that make me love my PSP: Monster Hunter, Patapon, Sid Meir's Pirates!, Powerstone Collection, Me and My Katamari.

There are of course more but those are the ones that stand out to me personally.

On the DS side, all of the games you've listed are pretty good. I do homebrew on my DS and that's one of the reasons I really like it. However, be prepared to spend a lot of time and money getting things up and running.

There are some DS games that I think are overlooked as well. If you like Sim City you might enjoy Theme Park and Settlers (although it has gotten some very bad reviews it's still Settlers on a handheld!). Glory Days is also really cool and Rune Factory is one of the better iterations of Harvest Moon. Of course you've also go Jump Super/Ultimate Stars, Bleech, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Mario Hoops, etc.

A couple on the RPG front that I like include Contact and FFXII Revenant Wings (and I'm not a FF fan either).

So there you go... I think they're both great systems and it'd be extremely difficult for me to choose just one of them. I know more people with a DS so multiplayer is easier there, but the multiplayer interface in games like MGS: PO is much better than any DS game.

Either way I think you win.

All of these excellent games except for sega rally revo. Didn't like the way the car handled, but I don't like the arcade feel of that game cause I'm addicted to collin mcrae games. So I would recommend collin or wrc rally (this maybe europe only) for the psp. Can also recommend to get exit if you like puzzle games and bomberman if you have some friends with psp, its a blast with 4 playing.

I thought the same at first and when I was buying my new portable I was just between a psp and a gp2x but the thing is DS games are actually good. The thing is if you want a system for emulation but with generally shitty games you go for the PSP (only games I've seen that are worth playing are loco roco and katamari) if you want a system with good official software get a ds.
