Of course they are, but it will be interesting speculating with all the mistakes they have made this generation what they will be doing differently. $600 console anyone? Work more hours? LOL

Will the PSP2 be backwards compatible with the PSP?puke_face wrote:env963 wrote:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1170944p1.html

LOL$600 at LEAST! But seriously, I don't think I'll be buying any consoles from the next generation. I'm thinking I'll mostly buy handheld stuff. For some reason they are much more appealing to me these days. I will be getting a PSP2 at launch. Not really sure if I'll go with a Nintendo handheld or not.

Re: Sony working on next gen console
I think this is a deal maker/breaker for me. I really want to play the great psp rpgs that are coming out, but this would be alot nicer.o.pwuaioc wrote:Will the PSP2 be backwards compatible with the PSP?puke_face wrote:env963 wrote:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1170944p1.html

Or a psp player for the ps3 would work, but then Id need to buy a ps3. (which is also getting rpgs that I want to play. Bastards)
Re: Sony working on next gen console
You won't be able to play UMDs on it (no UMD drive), but there will probably be some PSP games up for digital download. So my answer would be no.o.pwuaioc wrote:Will the PSP2 be backwards compatible with the PSP?
Re: Sony working on next gen console
That's really annoying. Game Boy games could be played on Game Boy Color, Game Boy Color games (and Game Boy!) could be played on Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance Games could be played on Nintendo DS, but Sony's PSP2 can't play PSP games? That's such bullshit.brunoafh wrote:You won't be able to play UMDs on it (no UMD drive), but there will probably be some PSP games up for digital download. Yeah, it's pretty lame. They decided to ditch the UMD drive back with the Go though, I suppose. Then again, there really isn't much reason to get the PSP2 anyway...o.pwuaioc wrote:That's really annoying. Re: Sony working on next gen console
That's really not accurate though, from what I've heard the PSP2/NGP will be backwards compatible with downloaded PSP games, like brunoafh said. The fact of the matter is, UMDs are crap. Sony I'm sure realized this only a couple years after the PSP came out, as it was the number one complaint that most people had about it. So of course they're ditching it. There'll still be downloadable PSP games, at least the big name ones, and worst comes to worst, you can just buy a used PSP if you really want to play UMD games. They only cost like 50 bucks on Craigslist right now, so I'm assuming they'll drop even more when the PSP2/NGP comes out. Don't worry too much, there's always a solution!o.pwuaioc wrote:That's really annoying.
