people can release their own games but i read that the ps2 is as hard to program for as the Sega Saturn was.

ps2 like most modern systems is copy protected. many people wouldn't be able to play the unofficial games.

I have this sitting on my shelf. Need ro play it. Was devil summoner 2 before sakura wars? I know it was a 09 release.

A ton of good rpgs came out in 06-08 as well

Reprints/Greatest Hits don't count, in my opinion. Hell, Atlus did a reprint of a PS1 game a couple years ago (Eternal Punishment).
