I think you're right. I know Paul is addressing the Jews and their rejection of Christ as the propitiation for their sins. For whatever reason that passage popped up in my head after hearing all the Harold Camping controversy. Basically, the idea of being highly zealous for something in vain. The Jews scrupulous obedience to the law, often more so than their obedience to God blinded them from a relationship with Christ. Camping claims to be this and that, and yet he too has missed the mark entirely.Limewater wrote:I agree with your sentiment, but I don't believe that scripture passage applies here at all. Paul is talking about a very specific group of people here.s1mplehumar wrote: I couldn't agree more. Personally, I firmly believe in the rapture (yes, I'm one of those weirdos) but as the Bible tells us... ^ I'm not amazed at theologians and even so-called persuasive Bible scholars who seem to be in the dark concerning the scriptures.
Romans 10:2-3
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Just thinking out loud.
