I've heard that the best ones cost lots of $$$ so it sounds like an expensive console to collect for.

I recently picked a saturn in a bundle of misc game stuff. I didn't really want to collect for it but figured I might as well...I'll tell you that Saturn stuff seems to command a premium now. Doesn't seem to matter what the game is people want top dollar especially if its got the original box.

So, unless your area has a lot of Saturn stuff showing up you may want to put the collection on the back burner.. :?

Yeah thats what I've heard about it, especially the original case thing. I haven't seen any Saturn stuff around in about a year so I think I'd rather just pass on it for the time being.

I will say some members on this forum can be a bit more reasonable with Saturn stuff. I've managed to double my small collection in only 1-2 trades. :D

Could always do a mod chip and burn some of the good titles.

Currently, the only system I really feel like I'm 'missing' is the 3DO. I come close to getting one, but it turns out to be a European system. I come close to getting one again, and actually get it - but the disc drive was malfunctioning.

I now actually have the chance to get one again (a friend of mine finally got a hold of one), but I'm saving my money for arcade machines instead. Such is life.

back in the mid or late 90s some dude was selling junk and I saw the 32x adapter. He was asking for a $100 bucks with no games or cable plugs. I said no and was right not buying from him. 32x is interesting, but never had one.

I would definitely have to go w/ Sega Saturn on this one. I came close to winning a sweat deal in an ebay auction but got sniped right before it ended! :x Eventually I will pick one up though. I'm just waiting for the right deal.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Currently missing a few MVS titles that I want then I'll think about my next collection either a Cave 360 or a SNES collection... or even a PS2 RPG collection.

For me it's the NES & SNES I keep meaning to pick them up but there just so expensive to collect for in my area compared to the Master System and Mega Drive. And a lot of the RPG's never made it over here.

That sucks. I have never been to the UK so I do not know the situation there. But here in the US at most retro stores you can find cheaper alternatives...these all in one systems. for example...I have what is called an "nex" basiclly it is a nes clone but you can also play famicom games on it. I have seen these genesis / snes / nes systems that run about $50 USD.

Sorry to hear about your situation, best of luck in your search

The only thing that makes my collection incomplete are the Atari Jaguar, Panasonic 3DO and Philips CD-i. Not that I actually want these things to play. Not at all. But I still have lingering feelings of this hardware being "the future" and at that time ('93-'95) I was at my most impressionable (11-14 years old). I coveted them so badly then, devouring magazine articles about hardware so far beyond my reach. In my brain I know they are not worth any price, but in my heart I STILL WANTY.

Right now the systems I need are an FM Towns Marty, a Playdia and a CD-i. I don't feel like I'm missing much not owning the later two. I actually bought a CD-i that didn't have hook-ups but turned out to be the one iteration that had a proprietary power supply. XD Ah well, some day I'll own these games. It's not like the first two systems are going to pop up "in the wild" any time soon, so I'll be forced to buying them online or in a store I'm sure. I've passed on a CIB Playdia a few times just from not having the money at the time.

My best console find was getting a 3DO from Goodwill for $8 (it even had a golf game disc inside).
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

I think that today a Jaguar is worth the price of admission. The 3DO is the only console that I've owned at one point and then parted with as there was nothing in the library that sufficiently interested me that I couldn't get elsewhere. The CD-i is something that seems overpriced still (so I've never tried one).

There are a few nice Jag exclusives (especially Tempest 2000) that make picking one up well worth doing.
