How do you play your sandbox games?

It depends on the setting. Modern day games I typically just wander around until I can cause mass havoc. In a fantasy or scifi game I usually wander around until I have a feel for the land, then I will do the quests, and always keep a side save so I can kill off the entire world when I get bored.

Sometimes you just want to loadup a game and blow things up. Red Faction Guerrilla is my current choice for that. I wandered around for a bit, had good fun finding things, then started driving cars into buildings and fighting with just the c4 and hammer. I am having a ball.
