So who bought this game? I bought it from Amazon for the Premium Edition (as nice as the GOG-DRM free version was I just had to have a hard copy with all the yummy extras you get free with it, plus it was £4 cheaper than GOG to boot. A no brainer.) Finally got round to picking it up from the post office (it's so thick it didn't fit through my letter box).
I'm currently installing this behemoth of a game. One question I do have, I've played The Witcher: Enhanced Edition a fair bit but I am not very far in the game. What I played of the game I loved. Is The Witcher required gaming (to completion) or can I get away with skipping it?

As I understand, you really want to have played through the first one, as the second makes the assumption that you have and doesn't really recap.
Re: The Witcher 2
Yeah having played the first 25 minutes I'm completely lost. This game makes my system cry on high settings and that motion blur is so over the top I kept losing what was happening during the fighting. I love the graphics, it's a beautiful game, the draw distance and the vistas are incredible. I'm gonna have a go at playing with the motion blur off see if I can actually see what the hell I'm doing. I wonder if there's a way of toning it down, because in the options all I can see is on or off. Surely there's an .ini file or something somewhere that will let me set it to something like 0.25 rather than 1.isiolia wrote:As I understand, you really want to have played through the first one, as the second makes the assumption that you have and doesn't really recap.

I really wish my PC could handle this game, it looks great and I loved the first one. You'll have to let us know how it is.
You'd probably benefit in a couple ways having finished the first one. The game is pretty story driven so not knowing what happens at the end would probably put a damper on your enjoyment of it. Your save file from the first one is also carried over. I'm not sure what's carried over, but I would assume your character stats or something and maybe some of the choices you made during your run through of the first game like in Mass Effect.Niode wrote:Is The Witcher required gaming (to completion) or can I get away with skipping it?

I was so excited for this game, and so crushed when they released the System Requirements.

I am trying to get into the first one. It just hasnt clicked yet.

One of the things that carry over is end game equipment. So I get to start off with my armor and swords from Witcher 1 (though they aren't THAT much better than the default gear).

No kidding! I could play this game on my current mobo, if I upgraded the processor and gpu, but that woulnd't breath all that much more life into this system. Better to wait and get a new system all together. Of course, by the time I do that the Witcher 3 will be out, and Witcher 2 will be $5 on GoG.J T wrote:I was so excited for this game, and so crushed when they released the System Requirements.

I found this pretty funny. I guess the Prime Minister of Poland gave Obama a copy of the game.

Can't help but wonder if Obama will try to play it.
