Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
Im thinking of playing this game soon. I've never been a fan of Naughty Dog games, but I really like the old school Tomb Raider games.

See I thought I had one of the less annoying forms of sixaxis. I thought it was alright.AmishSamurai wrote: disliked the random inclusion of gimmicks such as using the sixaxis tilt sensor to balance when crossing planks, and the vehicle bits (at least the watercraft one).
I also thought the vehicle bits were awesome! Especially the jeep rail shooting level where you can knock trees down. It satisfied the part in me that likes big explosions and lots of them. The waverunner bit was challenging and I guess could be a bit more annoying on harder difficulties but on normal it didn't seem that hard.
Older. Not wiser.

Getting insanely tired off these endless waves of pirates or whatever they are coming along. Lmao.

You know what I am a fan of is Amy Hennig and her writing. So Amy Hennig + Tomb Raider (which I LOVE) = WINSwooshBear wrote:Im thinking of playing this game soon. I've never been a fan of Naughty Dog games, but I really like the old school Tomb Raider games.

Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
Funny, I was cleaning up my ps1 games (they were getting dusty) and I came across all the Tomb Raider games and I was never really a fan of the controls back then so I tried to play a few of them and they got booted out just as fast as I put them in.
Then when I got to my ps3 games I pulled out Uncharted Drake's Fortune from the back (where I keep games I really didn't like). I put it in and for some reason I enjoyed this game. I am near the end of the game and I am thinking of actually trading in games to get the 2nd game in the series. I never trade games even if I do not like them.
I did think "hmm plays similar to Tomb Raider but with way better controls" I do have a few issues with the jumping at times but the game is fun so I overlook them (more of a camera/jumping issue). I also think it has a Red Dead Redemption feel to the shooting mechanics (but even if the cross hair is on the enemy you still get misses).
Otherwise I enjoyed the story so far and the gameplay and graphics are well above average. I have had this games since release day and I guess some good things have to wait as my tastes in games are ever changing.

not to bring back a dead forum and all, i just need to vent my frustration of this game. i bought this game on recommendations from some friends. i had already played the demo and didn't like it due to the combat. i found it to be more frustrating than fun. i decided to give it one more shot just because i usually loved naughty dog and i wanted to see if the hype was true. but just as i found in the demo, the combat was left to be desired. not to mention fighting started to become more of a chore than anything, and the hand to hand was very unresponsive. being that i paid $20 for it, im gonna troop it out, as i do like the story and the characters. im probably gonna get the 2nd one too.

I thought the combat was a lot more refined in the 2nd one. Stick it out for the story and you'll be rewarded with the sequel.weasels wrote:not to bring back a dead forum and all, i just need to vent my frustration of this game. i bought this game on recommendations from some friends. i had already played the demo and didn't like it due to the combat. i found it to be more frustrating than fun. i decided to give it one more shot just because i usually loved naughty dog and i wanted to see if the hype was true. but just as i found in the demo, the combat was left to be desired. not to mention fighting started to become more of a chore than anything, and the hand to hand was very unresponsive. being that i paid $20 for it, im gonna troop it out, as i do like the story and the characters. im probably gonna get the 2nd one too.

Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
I honestly didn't find it to be that bad, I just thought the 2nd was better. Maybe there is someone else here that can speak to the level of frustration you have for the first and say whether they liked or disliked the second one.weasels wrote:Stark wrote:

Re: Uncharted Drakes Fortune
I didn't find it all that frustrating, outside of some of the sequences towards the end, which I won't detail due to spoilers.
Generally speaking though, you're using cover, right? It was pretty rare that I got close enough to use H2H in the first one - usually only when not given a choice.
