Rushdown is possible in SSF4, but to do it effectively requires a lot of knowledge about the game (combos, frame traps, block strings, cross-ups, mix-ups, safe jumps, etc for your character, and all the defensive options available to your opponents).

And then once you know all that stuff, you have to have really good execution skills to be able to do it consistently. Can't just go into it randomly hitting buttons because if you don't combo or don't do true block strings then you'll eat a dragon punch. Another important skill is being able to see the openings where you can start your rushdown so you don't blindly go in and get countered.

Online lag can also make it a lot harder to time things correctly, so rushdown gets even more difficult.

I want to improve at rushdown with Akuma and Fei Long. So far it's been pretty hard. The payoff is that it's a really fun way to play and is a very effective way to win when done properly.
